There is no way to use it to change society. Power structures are very broad and there’s no way to realistically use the DN for that purpose. The only realistic way to use the DN is for revenge or extortion. For example, post on social media demanding a certain amount deposited to a crypto wallet on pain of death and kill rich people until the word gets out that it’s real and the only way to survive is to pay up. This will require a great deal of effort put into opsec but it’s very doable. Just murdering prisoners is an absolute waste of time, because at the point of them being in prison whatever position they had in society has already been destroyed, so killing them physically is just finishing them off.

well, I think you're partly right, but people getting out of jail and prison and recommitting crimes is literally I think like 80% of violent crime or some shit in the US. IIRC, the rules state they can't kill a third party, whoever is written in the note dies alone. So, you can't write "this nigga kills that mexican", the nigga dies due heart attack and the mexican gets to live another day.

Light was going after people who were basically unknown until the media broadcast their names and pictures on the local news. His targets were fairly obscure and easily linked to one region, and then he foolishly made it clear that he was in the police's computer network.

The maximum deadline for the Death Note is 23 days (source: rules on chapter 39).
The rules also leave no room for conditionals like this. You write the time, cause and circumstances of death, and the book tries to fulfill them within the given time, otherwise it defaults to heart attack.

Okay you're right. I've been thinking about it. While there's a lot of information available and neural networks make it possible to search through it efficiently we live in a world full of chaos. English is spoken by the entire world. You can't even profile someone based on American or British English anymore because people just mix it all the time. Too many users make it impossible to narrow down based on searches and the like. So yeah with a magic notebook it would be almost impossible to track you down.

If you write that a politician dies from being struck by lightning 30 seconds from now and they're nowhere near a lightning storm, then sure, it'll just be a heart attack.
But 23 days is a long time for a storm to come.
