I met fujoshits back in high school 2006 or so who were doing it on F2P MMOs to play out their yaoi faggotry fantasies with strangers at least. They were all the type you'd want to avoid as much as possible, but two of them made it into leading positions in the high school anime club, same ones who were writing hardcore gay fuck fics about guys in the school and printing them out in the library while occasionally forgetting to grab a page or two from the tray.

I don't think I've ever seen a series other than this one that relied so heavily on the soundtrack carrying it because it had absolutely nothing else going for it. Was it intentional, or did they find out they had a budget of about $200 left for the entire season's animation?

One time, due to paper recycling since the school was a bit poor being a bit of a rural area, a guy in speech and debate got one of their abandoned pages as scratch paper for a debate, and in a pure and perfect coincidence it had a bit of a story that involved him specifically, the distraction ruined his debate as one would expect. 3D truly is PD, doubly when fujoshits are involved.

Storywise yeah but gameplay is a bit dated for the original games but they really capture early 2000's internet really well. The original games (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine) have really great atmosphere but if you want to experience them you have to keep a very open mind for its gameplay. The sequel series GU went for a more shounen route with its story so it and its gameplay is more faster paced so people might like it better.

Also each part of the games are really short. They basically just took a normal 60-80 jrpg and cut them up into parts and sold them to fans at full price so don't be worried when you see 4 games and think each one is 60+ hours. It was a jewy practice that wasn't heard of at the time but they would at least add an OVA DVD to go along with the game parts called .hack//Liminality.

The .hack animes are not good.
