Thinking of starting a figurine collection but I didn't realise how expensive they are. Is it worth buying second hand stuff? Or the other way around, would they retain much value if I resold ones I'd bought new?

If you keep them in good condition then the resale value is fine, but it really depends on the demand for the particular figure. If you're already worried about the resale value before actually buying anything this hobby probably isn't for you.
Has anyone bought adult material using FromJapan before? I preordered a castoff figure through them a few months ago but I just found out their terms of service says adult goods and pornography are prohibited. I emailed them asking about my order and they said they reviewed the figure and thought they will be able to ship it but there's a chance they'll decide they can't once they actually get it and inspect it.
