I read some into the LN and I feel it was really meant as a one volume story. The next volumes are increasingly pointless. The second, third, fourth do actually have some funny parts, but the whole thing really only serves as a comedy. The story is going nowhere and I really doubt more than a few volumes were ever planned for (many such cases with LNs)
