Last time I watched was on 2000-2001 and Im finding the show a bit corny and slow.
I know that in this type of shows the first episodes are for introducing characters and concepts but in this show thecslice of life/filler elements are not that good as in early Sailor Moon, neither the characters as likeable, besides Tomoyo sakuras friends are pretty forgetable, sakura is okish.
Im on episode 9 and syaoran was recently introduced, what made the show a bit more interesting, hopefully it gets better because I dont want to drop it.
If i remember well there is a massive plot twist around middle show related with sakura dream that kinda took me out of guard as a child.

I've rewatched it several times, it's one of my favorite anime. It has a chill slice of life vibe to it but also a real plot and it also feels super "dreamy" if that makes any sense.

To be fair, you are comparing it what has possibly the most entertaining SoL filler eps.
Anyway no, the content stays very much the same. Sakura, for better or worse, is very consistent until you get to Clear Card which is still unfinished as far the anime goes.

if you go into these kinds of show thinking slice of life elements are "filler" then you're already set up to not enjoy them. stuff like this is about the journey, not the destination.
i'm working through it for the first time myself, just recently finished the first arc. it's very good if you ask me.
