I liked it, it was better quality than I expected, and I was surprised that almost all the boys appeared and had lines in the episode! But I still think it should have aired more than one episode. I think the episode was too confusing for those who don't know the game, not properly explaining the plot. At least it should have included the scene with the statues featuring Ace and Deuce.

It's partially one of the reasons why I never got into the series. Because if I don't want to interact with the fandom especially for things like ships and so on and so forth. Not a bad thing but I do like to participate in fandom especially bigger fandoms whether it's drawing or doing fanfiction because the ideas communities come with can be really interesting and refreshing. I took one look at the fandom and I was like I don't even want to get into the show because of that. Sometimes I browse the threads just to see if there's anything interesting to to hook me and watch it but the amount of even just shit posting now that the series is over it's just too much for me.

If I ever decide to watch it in the future I'm hoping that by the time I watch it the fandom would have calmed down and it's just old fujos or something. I remember when there was drama over just shipping two characters together much less the insults now if you try to ship an older and younger person and just there was a way too much drama for me so I just didn't even bother to try to get into the show.

It wasn't any better when the manga was still ongoing either, I ended up going to reddit just to escape the constant porn and cuckshit, not much better but at least you could actually talk about the chapter. Thankfully the fandom is dying down, hopefully it'll be more habitable soon, there just needs to be something for the worst offenders to switch to. My advice, if you do ever try to join on twitter, is to latch onto a rarepair/crackship, that part of the fandom is much calmer. Oh and block anyone who uses k-pop gifs or black reaction pics, instantly improves the experience

I can't speak for everyone but none of these series of feel like they're any good to me. In the case of pet shop of horrors, I read it so long ago and it's a completed series that it's not even really worth revisiting anymore just based off of the things that I remember it didn't hold a position in nostalgic favorite series for me. I didn't dislike it either.
Fugeki and Hikaru are not great or applicable to my interest with hikaru just suffering from horrendous writing.

Most likely the case, I just picked the first link I saw on google. I picked this up since I kept getting good fanart of it on Twitter. Its honestly a pretty nice nostalgia trip, back in middle/hs I was super into the Holders and SCP series. That's fair, but if you're ever willing to reconsider I'd vouch for Korean idol novels being different from Japanese series. I'm not sure of the timings so I can't say DoD is the originator of it, but the majority of idol transmigration WNs tend to be told through the POV of a character who's cynical about the industry and tries to manipulate events in their favour. JP idol series are usually splitting their attention between many characters and don't have time between hijinks to fully explore them all within a plot, where KR tend to have some major trauma event, abuse plots, and the reactions of anonymous internet forums for conflict.

DoD was interesting to me because it's mostly negotiating a group of young men and solving interpersonal issues, some really nice imaginary performance descriptions, and then out of left field the MC gets hit by deeply visceral emotional experiences that colour his behaviour through further events. I kept saying "damn, why isn't this guy writing a horror series?" so when their next novel popped up I was laughing. DoD does take its time getting there though, and doesn't reveal there's more system users until later (160 ch in or something? I've forgotten), after a few spooky red herrings. I was super endeared to the MC by then though, feared for all he put into it, and fully felt the payoff on the idol side of things. I especially liked when he even unlocked an ability that made him way too into performing on the wire and freaked everyone out (after a near-lung crush incident). Love those death wish MCs.

you know what? I kind of liked it. I felt like the writer knew the type of interpretation they wanted to give with each route and i recommend playing it in the order given.
I think that you can understand the angle that the writer wanted to go with with char having a mental break down and i wondered if in the first route(char's office) if amuro even existed at all. It feels very like someone needing a subspace to relax to when they're so worked up with stress - or maybe just me projecting a bit(?) with prior knowledge.
It's not my preferred pairing after all so i'm not as in to it as others can be but i think we really need more fandom projects like this. to make a decently ~1hr long VN even without a lot of options is still a pretty good ambitious project. I'm not talking about anthologies or zines with a lot of input but just small scale projects.

I'm being doubly called out here. You really nailed it, though I'd just assumed before that it was because I was paying him extra attention from the start (since I like big appetite characters). His whole gimmick of pushing buttons and waiting to see what happens and how he can bend opinions with excuses is very child-like to me. He's just begging for validation on what's wrong or right, like he's still learning. It's why I keep wondering if maybe he had absent parents or at least a parent who was too stressed and busy to really sit down and interact with him when he was little. It would explain his over reliance on sweets for happiness if they were always plying him with sugar. And putting on aloof fronts and avoiding being direct with his feelings? This part. This always gets me, both his breaks in S2 and especially the second one. He is SUCH a clingy child with those sentiments, they're right there, but some people somehow don't recognise it. His misbehaving in the lab wasn't just taking the money when everyone was yelling at him, it was making a third option to have both the money and friendship, because look how cool my friends are. I read this and ended up getting spooked. Shit that's about "otherworld intruding on our own more and more" scares the shit out of me despite this story being objectively not very scary.

I appreciate how well the author can write Yoshiki and "Hikaru" struggling with their feelings. I like the ghost intrigue but I find the two MCs struggling over how to feel about whwt they're doing the most compelling part of the story.
