Hokazono trapped himself
HQ was supposed to be the crossroad of characters fighting
But to be engaging these characters had to either be established earlier, so readers had connection with them by that moment, or get development in the process
Most characters were introduced just now, but aren't getting that development
So it's just the character designs with the names and a couple of personality traits skirmishing
And that skirmishing outside of couple moments doesn't look impressive, nor well directed. It doesn't even have proper resolutions and pay offs
>Four swordsmen met each other; showed zero difference in styles, despite being told to have different skill levels ended up in stalemate, and then the fight just changed the focus on Azami vs Yura, with other three fighters just disappearing.
Hokazono was like a kid who smashed 4 toy figurine while making sounds, and then got bored and dropped them and moved on, leaving the reader deeply unsatisfied.
And that's - attention - the BEST sequence in this arc. Now imagine how lame are the rest 80% of this arc, with the characters just running and doing countless expositions and infodumping
I wish Hokazono just stopped and went back to building up characters first, like he did in the first chapters of Sojo and Rakuzaichi.
But i guess editorial also is breathing into his neck asking for more fights.
