I didn't say things were less censored. The target of it has changed though. Violence is more allowed while fanservice is more censored. Toei for One Piece changing Zeff eating his own leg to him losing it while swimming after Sanji is some 4kids level bullshit on the level of the tomato sauce thing in Dragon Ball. /a/ is full of people who watch anime with their dick in their hands though and so the fanservice censorship lands harder. It's a matter of who is doing the complaining. Again, not defending it, but I do want people to realize that anime censorship is not a new thing, which some people don't seem to understand. And the people spamming these threads is a relatively recent thing that comes off as someone new to anime only finding out that anime gets censored compared to its source very often.

No, I'm saying it's irrelevant to this thread. Anime was censored in the past, and it's censored now. The target of the censorship doesn't matter (sex vs violence) and you should dislike both forms of censorship equally if you were honest. But you're not, and you're putting sex censorship as being worse than violence censorship because you're butthurt at the US.

Any time the US comes up too it's clear it's not as straightforward as people think because the US has been an influence on Japan since the end of WWII and yet people are only ever talking about the last 20 years, if that. All of the "uncensored" anime you put on a pedestal was made while under Japan's influence from the US. Maybe you should thank the US for anime existing in its current form if you want to believe the US has wielded its influence over Japan with an iron fist after WWII.

Let me reveal a secret to everyone that will read this: making manga basically costs nothing. The publisher pays money to manga author and that's about it. Of course the whole publishing and distributing network also costs a lot, but it pays back.
But anime costs a LOT MORE, a FORTUNE. We're talking 600.000 dollars for a single episode minimum. Imagine that, a single episode of that random seasonal isekaislop costs like a house. For bigger series, from bigger studios it goes to millions.
That's why it makes all sense it the world to make it accessible to the widest audience possible, to simply make more money back. It's simply a business decision.

Eva is an anime original. It was made how it was made and wasn't an adaptation that can be censored from its source. And while it has a certain level of content to it, the latter part of the anime pissed a lot of people in Japan off and caused some controversy (with its content, not because of the ending, which is its own thing). If you wanted to look a bit further into it you could ask why the scene where Shinji falls on Rei doesn't show Rei's nipples. That's the kind of thing people on /a/ currently would call censorship. Or the scene where Ritsuko is naked.

Several anime techniques exist solely to skirt censorship, since you couldn't show shit like a guy vomiting blood on certain time slots.
People look at shit like DBZ, which aired on a primetime slot and was able to get away with a lot (And even then still had censorship), and then ignore Hokuto no Ken's complete omission of real gore, or Kinnikuman doing shit like replacing a guy getting violently ripped in half with the guy getting turned into ramen noodles in the most cartoony manner possible.
Hell, Hunter x Hunter's original 90s anime is MORE censored than the 2010s anime.
