Several anime techniques exist solely to skirt censorship, since you couldn't show shit like a guy vomiting blood on certain time slots.
People look at shit like DBZ, which aired on a primetime slot and was able to get away with a lot (And even then still had censorship), and then ignore Hokuto no Ken's complete omission of real gore, or Kinnikuman doing shit like replacing a guy getting violently ripped in half with the guy getting turned into ramen noodles in the most cartoony manner possible.
Hell, Hunter x Hunter's original 90s anime is MORE censored than the 2010s anime.
