This is just pure autism that I'm not too broken up about, but I have to wonder how this bounty stuff works, cause the concept of a bingo book full of targets was established as early as Kakashi vs. Zabuza
Like, okay, the idea of putting a bounty on some douche from another village whose been a thorn in your side for a while makes perfect sense, you could even turn that into an "official" B-rank, A-rank, etc. mission to accomplish; similarly, putting a price on the heads of wandering uber-criminals like the Akatsuki is also fair enough, you do the dirty work and act as a cleaning crew taking out an independent problem that nobody will miss (ignoring that Sakura never got any bounty for killing SASORI OF THE RED SAND, SLAYER OF AN ENTIRE COUNTRY, but that's besides the point)
But the way it's presented here in this very 3rd-party criminal kind of way feels a bit strange, who's actually benefitting from Hidan and Kakuzu killing baldie over here? Who's got the wealth to be paying ryo (I assume this is basically just yen) in the tens of millions? What are they doing with all the bodies beyond just having proof of a corpse?

does it ever say it's the organization itself that places / funds the bounty? my idea would be that they're just intermediaries who connect people who place bounties with bounty hunters and get a cut for confirming deaths

like Gatou had he lived or some heir of his business might be salty and place a few million on Kakashi's or Naruto's head. the organization will just share info on what bounties are out there, confirm deaths, pay out cash and collect from the bounty placers, taking its cut at some point. there might even be multiple organisations like that.

Part 2 feels like it is split between everything leading up to Pain then everything after. This arc shows off different aspects of how the ninja system chews people up and spits them out Kakuzu was betrayed by his village for failing a mission and Hidan is a result of demilitarization leaving soldiers without purpose. Chiyo talks about how Sasori is another result of the ninja system it makes sense there so many random crazy people running around.

When Kakuzu and Hidan enter, in the english translation Kakuzu says "she's all yours", which some people interpret to mean Hidan beat Yugito by himself, which would be even more retarded, but I was curious what he actually says in the japanese version. I have issues with this arc. First, Akatsuki going into an ambush when they're better than that. They proved themselves to be intelligent and efficient, so much so that everything was offscreen except for his fight against Team Asuma. Speaking of Asuma, how the hell was his death not a bigger deal in the world? There's no way Danzo wouldn't have taken advantage of that. And third is how they killed Hidan. He got this voodoo/Mexican magic that made me think it was also kind of inspired by The Crow. But I never understood how Shikamaru killed him. At least Danzo's weakness is the “hit the weak spot” kind of deal.

I ended up looking up the "She's all yours" line afterall. What Kakuzu says in japanese is "Now it's just you" or "From now on it's just you". I think it could be interpreted as being adressed to either Yugito, which would imply she got seperated from some kind of group or Hidan, to imply he's fighting on his own from now on. Not sure him adressing it to Hidan would make sense though, like why would they stop working together after doing it up to this point.

The chakra system is never really thoroughly explained. Naruto raised some clear points about how this new retconned in elemental sytem doesn't fit the previously established techniques in the universe and it gets waved away with "That will take too long to explain" and never mentioned again. The elemental stuff never really made sense and is dropped as quickly as it's introduced. Lightning beating Earth? Fucking retarded. Bloodline limits were never meant to be boring uninspired elemental chakra combinations. The elemental bullshit simply made the fights more generic and the power system feel more contrived since it was clearly retconned in.

Neji's death was a joke and he only appears for the first time in hundreds of chapters to immediately die so it doesn't do anything to raise the stakes.
