I genuinely believe you can’t be in your 20s and still think anime is good. I’m 28 and I’m just tired of it nothing but boring garbage left and right. Maybe it’s something only teenagers can still enjoy. I understand why some japanese told me to drop anime, its for young kids. I thought he was lying. Maybe old anime was for mature people, but now? nothing but the same boring repetitive generic trash

I got bad news anon but the ratio of slop to not hasnt really changed all that much. You can go find guys on dead forums in the 90s or 2000s that were saying much the same thing.

It's just a thing of getting older. I've only really enjoyed two shows this year, technically only one since one was a movie.
Try manga or visual novels.

I enjoy anime like High school of the dead and haibane renmei, and akira etc. Modern anime just sucks, feels generic, and aimed at the normies.

Dunno if this is b8 or not but look into fanfiction it's usually written by adults. Search ff.net or AO3. Sort by length/ words>100k and you will be left with the stuff people pour time into. A lot of it will still be bad but you get much larger chances some decent concept won't be killed before even being explored for more than 3 chapters.

I'm actually happier when manga I enjoy doesn't get adapted. The amount of times I see a fan base explode with "OHMYGOD HAVE YOU SEEN THIS NEW ANIME" about a series I've read for years and then complain about "S2 WHEN?". Let them have their slop and let me enjoy my quality in peace.
