Is Oda the Japanese Shakespeare?
>appeals both to the high brow and low brow
>the high brow appreciates the deep social commentary and political allegory
>the low brow appreciates the fights, powerscaling, and aura

Absolutely
Not so much anymore, since the passage of time has made it less accessible and you now have to understand language beyond basic conversational English, but once you look into it his plays are really just jam packed full of puns and sex jokes and the like

Shakespeare was the pseudonym of Francis Bacon, a mason and rosicrucian who used public plays for the plebeian class to expose aspects of nobility and in some cases openly mock them.
His works were considered lowbrow at the beginning.

I love manga in general and One Piece specifically but it doesn’t hold a candle to actual literature. Read more, please.

It's very unlikely that Shakespeare was really a guy who was dead for a good chunk of the time that his plays were coming out
Especially considering the occasional jokes about current events
And his shortest ever play coming out after the king walked out of a performance of his longest one

Yes, Shakespeare plays were the equivalent to trashy soap operas, and religious upper class people saw them as immoral and sinful

You got memed by Anglotards. They didn't like the greatest English writer was Catholic and tarnished his name.
