Just watched the film in theaters and finished reading Part 1.
Both were beautiful, what a ride.
I still wonder how much of Reze's feelings were genuine throughout the arc and when they started to appear.
And Makima turned out to be a pretty tragic character too, although she did tons of merciless stuff.

Part 2's biggest issue is its pacing from a perspective of a weekly reader. I've read it's a much better experiance when binging which I did not bother with so cannot confirm
Part 2 flows like this:

Lastly, during a festival scene she begs him to run away with her saying she will protect him - promise which for a normal person would seem silly as how she could protect a professional demon hunter? - so i believe that when saying that, she was certain she would use her bomb girl powers in order protect him.

I think she returned to her mission only after perceived rejection

That seems way too early, her mannerism looked too much a way to become acquaintance with her target and her final words indicate that it all sparked when she found out about the past of Denji, who had a rough childhood as well.
The pool too seemed a way to have her target fall for her with classic seduction tactics (the movie director certainly thought so, with all the spider web imagery).
On the other hand, the country mouse vs city mouse talk felt too personal to be just a way to have him trust her more and it tied into the whole desire of running away to a safe place.
And speaking of this, initially I really had a hard time believing her idea of running away "because she knew a friend who could help them get where no one could catch them" was anything more than a lure to backstab him later. But then, when she hears about Makima, she's disappointed because it meant it wouldn't have worked "even if they had run together", which made me question whether she was just being tongue-in-cheek with her hypothetical scenario/trap or Denji had in fact turned down a genuine offer.

Speaking of Makima, she had evidently heard their conversations ("I too like the country mouse.") and striking (she even specifically wanted Aki to murder her, but Angel disobeyed) only after Reze had decided to change plans to meet Denji could certainly fall into her whole scheme of causing Denji despair.

Which is exactly why once she got a bigger toy (Nuclear weapons and the power that came with it) she completely discarded Denji and was willing to break him for her goals, she only felt affection for Denji insofar as Asa did and once she had her own source of affection she ran away.
