Didn't know. Only watched the anime and now I'm following the series through the manga.
It's related to that Elf with whom he makes mirror contracts? As far as I can tell he doesn't look like some powerful noble that can get to wars n stuff, so it's not too bad.

It's related to that elf. I forget all the exact relationships, but I think it was the cousin of his wife, whose father was not doing his job. Michio gets recruited to assist in removing him from his position. As payment and to remove inheritance issues for the girl, he's given her as a slave for a couple of years. That's possibly with the intent that she might one day regain some of her status when free and he's defeated a dungeon. In the original version, she wasn't adjusting to her new status too well until left alone with Roxanne who starts telling her what she's going to do. The LN maks some changes around her joining and removes parts, while also making it her get used to the idea faster. The editor probably didn't like the implied threats from Roxanne being the reason she agreed to sex.
