Picrel, I've been looking for one specific (sfw) picture by Pynkblud (also known as Mr Steak) for a long time now. Pynkblud always had a habit of periodically deleting all their shit and never reposting it; AFAIK this last time (a few years ago) was the big one and they're unlikely to ever come back.

I know too many artists that nuke their portfolio, as if that'll insulate them from their own pasts.

No so much purged as abandoned. Hyung Sun Kim did a ton of comics back in the day. Before webcomics were anywhere near monetizable at a break even level but he sure as fuck tried. Kung Fool, Crazy Kimchi, Mystery at the Chateau, Kill Harry (Kill Bill story with Harry Potter Characters), tons of one shots. The dude was prolific, skilled, and willing to experiment with formats. Many of his early comics used Flash for limited animation.

He was never able to make it work. He had to host everything on his own page and pay for it. None of the comic collective sites were around back then. Not that they aren't exploitive dogshit to begin with. he disappeared 20 years ago or so. Not so much as a blip since. No Tumbr, Twitter, BlueSky, nothing. He predated all that stuff. As far as I know none of his original sites are still around. Lost to the ages. Some of his stuff is in the wayback machine but none of his Flash stuff as far as I know.

I got a search request. A little while ago I saw an pic that I haven't been able to find again. It was brother and sister with the mom walking in. It had a black background with the characters were white lines. It looked like one of those magazine political comics where everything is a metaphor but labeled. I think it was about the kids stuck inside from covid so they start fucking and becoming degenerate autistics. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

now that you say it, I definitely see it. a lot of Tumblr artists did that, especially since it became "problematic" after like 2016. For example, I remember that Louigan used to be a common ship on that site, and now it's treated like a fringe ship. Gravity Falls and SVTFOE seemed to be stuck in the middle of that transition.

Infamous one but she seemed to nuke her stuff right at the proper time but was based enough to let her followers know in advance, so it's not totally gone forever.

A lot of the time it's not even their wishes. They got a job and had to delete their stuff because HR is full of power tripping cunts. Or they got found out by a significant other and instead of supporting their revenue stream got emotionally blackmailed into deleting their stuff.
