So basically in tons of class group chats I’m in there’s been the news of people sharing around a screenshot of an Instagram story of worried students with text saying "We were approached by a scary white man who said "hope you have a GOOD night and good luck on Monday if you know what I mean" and how they’re worried the college will get shot up or something like that, the college sent out an alert notifying us that the threats are under investigation from the campus police, should I be worried or is this just a nothingburger?

They have to, if people brought it to their attention. What will happen is they'll find no credibility or evidence in those larps, and move on.
