I don't know what to do. she's also about the same age as your old guy. she's never had any medical problems since I've had her and always seemed healthy for her age, I just assumed she would live to 20+ so it was a huge gut punch today

Anyone here rec a good harness. Want to try harness training my little sweetiepoo. I heard the h shape harnesses are usually good rather than the ones that cover the entire torso. Is there anything else to consider other than that? Maybe certain colors of harness piss them off?

I’m torn on if I should let my new kitten sleep in bed with me. I feel like it might be uncomfortable due to overheating. I also adjust sleep positions throughout the night. If I let the kitten sleep with me for a night or two to test it out and see if it’s uncomfortable, would I be setting a precedent for the kitten that would be hard to undo if I decided I didn’t like it? So far I’ve just been leaving him in the living room at night and closing the door to my bedroom and he’s been fine, but I feel like if he sleeps with me in bed even once he’d start freaking out if I closed the bedroom door on him moving forward.

My cat did a similar thing to the door for the under-stair crawlspace in my house. What I ended up doing was just leaving it open for him so he could come and go as he pleases for a while, and once he stopped going in there I closed it and he stopped caring.

I think cats just like to explore a home until they're familiar with all the areas, and if they're curious about a room they haven't been in much they'll want to go in and look around and get upset if they can't. Once they know what's in there they probably wont care that it's closed, especially if there's nothing interesting in there for them.

Just know that whatever kind of harness you get, the cat can slip out of it like liquid if it really wants to or it panics. I have a feeling the only "escape proof" harness would be like a full body pajama that goes around each leg.

That being said, walking a cat is more like following it as it finds places to chill and observe and even hunt, so bring a folding chair you can carry around. I love it.

Reposting from the old thread:
I live on the third floor of a small apartment. A 1-month old calico kitten had been screaming all evening from our garage. I had had enough by midnight and went to fetch it. After a bit of struggle I managed to grab her by the back of her neck and take her back with me. Elevators are turned off at night here so I had to take the stairs. She screamed at the top of her lungs the entire way. I gave food and water, and a little blanket to sleep inside. She calmed down a bit but was still noisy. After seeing that she still won't stop meowing I took her back to the garage and left her there. That was thirty minutes ago. She has gone back to screaming.

What would you do in this situation? I can't keep her because my tortoiseshell cat is unfriendly and might harm her.

Any anons dealt with arthritis with their cat, my boy is 15 now and outside of early signs of kidney problems he is fairly healthy, according to the vet.
I'm already preparing myself for the kidney problems to nose dive suddenly someday even with the recommended food but what is troubling me are his back legs, they are stiff and he has lost muscle mass there.
Has anyone used cbd oil for pain or had any luck with joint supplements? I already bought some of the latter (cosequin) but I guess I'm also asking for anything that may have helped your cats out.
He has stairs to get to his favorite spot and still seems to be enjoying life with limited mobility.

This does NOT work on dogs. Dogs are more prone to seizures and paranoid behavior. Cats metabolize and adapt to THC much better because of their african/near-eastern origins. Cats were originally domesticated in the levant as temple guardians, and in the levant, proto-jewish priests would constantly hotbox in their temples with cannabis, so abrahamic faiths were literally written while high and cats that were better adapted to marijuana smoke had more reproductive success.

Catbros... there's this cream orange cat that lives very close to my house and I see it all the time when I come home from work. It isn't really like any other stray in the area its SUPER sweet and affectionate and always meows and purrs and rubs itself on me when I call it over. Its not super soft and is a little dirty and has face scratches so I'm not sure if it lives with anyone but it took every bone in body not just kidnap it.
I went back today and gave it the rest of my cat treats. The thing stopping me from just nabbing it is because I don't know if it has a home and I already have two adult cats so idk if I can really handle a third. Either way this kibby has stolen my heart and tempts be every time I pet it on the curb. Wut do bros?
I crinkled the bag and tried to get it to follow me as far as it was willing to go and its territory doesn't seem to be on my exact block so I can't even be content leaving food out for it.

>thinking about adopting an orange cat. are the rumors true, are they really crazy?
There's one big tom alley cat behind my house, incredibly sweet, will sit on your lap pushing his head in your chest and purr like an engine if you give him any attention. Also, weirdly nice to other cats around, whenever I feed him he goes and calls the others first and wait for them to eat before going his turn.
Before him, I had two roomates bring in orange cats, both for some reason decided to shit on my pillow. No clue why they hated me so much, I've had half a dozen cat myself and they've all turned really well, but these two just had it in for me. This was years apart, they never met, and both had this fixation about leaving a steamy pile of shit for me to discover when I came back home.
So, 1/3 in your favor, in my experience.

No, doubling up on flea and tick medications is very dangerous and can poison your cat. Stick with the ointments you put on the back of the neck, the flea collars are ineffective and carry a higher risk of toxicity.

After years of my cat using his litter box in the master bedroom bathroom (that I never even use) with no issues where it's completely and totally out of my way, he accidentally got stuck downstairs all day when some family was visiting and he had to piss in the corner of the downstairs living room, and now he's decided that that's his favorite spot to piss and now I have to move his litter box there now.

Whats with /pol/ election tourists and revisionism. This has never been a cat website. It’s just a website. Sometimes cats have been en vogue. Mostly on /b/ (the shittiest board). 4chan is not obligated to support objectively irresponsible and harmful practices like outdoor cats because once upon a time cat pictures were funny and a dozen retards doxed a child who tortured a cat (which was ironically enabled by outdoor cat fags)

Some of you dont even know 4chan used to hate nazis/racists and oldfags still do, and claim the old school nigger memes are proof of your revisionism. Sad.

I feel so betrayed
This shithead cat, whom I cared for and loved 3 years suddenly started pissing in my brother's bed
It's not a hygiene issue as the litterbox is cleaned regularly and the cat doesn't piss anywhere else
When I caught the cat pissing there again, I yanked her away from the bed and in return the cat dug its nails in me and is extremely defensive
Something like this happened when i tried to introduce another cat home and the cat calmed down by the afternoon
I'm throwing this shitbag as soon as the cat lets her guard down
Any alternatives will be welcome, as I would like not to do that

If cats are obligate carnivores why do vegan cats live longer?
https://www.news-medical.net/news/20230918/Purr-fectly-plant-powered-study-hints-at-healthier-outcomes-for-cats-on-vegan-diets.aspx
Cats are not obligate carnivores. They can actually live longer on a properly formulated vegan diet. Most stray cats scavenge for the majority of their diet and will eat anything including starch and cooked vegetables.
>inb4 taurine
Yes and humans are obligate piscivore-frugivores because they need iodine and vitamin C. And yet many people get these nutrients elsewhere.

Murdering animals to eat them is animal abuse. What now? Why do you think a cat deserves more rights than a more intelligent pig? All living things are living things. Sentient life is valuable or it is not. Suffering is wrong or it is not. Decide to be evil, or decide to be good. Logic leaves no room for bullshit.

If cats can not just survive, but thrive as vegans, they do not have to eat meat (and neither do you). Therefore your choice to feed your cat the products of animal abuse was not necessary and you are consciously an evil person. You have no logical reason to support any morals because you have already admitted that life is not valuable and suffering is not wrong. So then, how about we feed YOU to the cat?

Murder is outdated. Either you are a good person and won't support the systematic torture and murder of sentient beings, or you're no different from a chinese cat torturer. Animals are animals, death is death, suffering is suffering. Choose wisely.

Vegan schizo’s morals are logically invalid and borderline schizo religion (buddhism without the hard parts) but he’a right that cats can totally subsist off supplement slop. They will be dumber, slower, and weaker, but they will be alive and it doesn’t matter because they’re a cat. If anything making them dumber and more lethargic is an upgrade.

You're a nigger and should find a better home for her. Address possible physical causes with a vet check, if it's not physical look at emotional causes. Stress, changes of routine or home life, insecurity, boredom. Punishing a cat for peeing is only going to make things worse.
