>>935762692The US already fell behind China, you must be very uninformed to not know this, just look at patents, China has over 5x the amount that the US has, people often overestimate the US, because of its impact on cinema/music, but when it comes to output of pretty much any other thing, it's pretty far behind. Even Russia graduates over twice the number of engineers the US does. The mirage caused by the overvalued dollar, in nominal terms, will be unmasked as countries are already shifting away from it, replace it for gold or any other currency, to store value, once that happens (2030 ?) its game over. Bye cheap imports, hello overpriced everything, purchasing power much better reflects what an economy can afford, China's GDP is 40 T vs 30 T for the US, and is growing faster https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)
>>935761767 (OP) Depends on what USSR you're talking about, a "hard-line" one ? or the sovereign union project ?, a hard-line one would be hard to achieve, but easy to maintain, the federative project the opposite, the first, would resemble modern Turkmenistan or Belarus, the latter would likely separate eventually, leaving only Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Belarus. The Iraq war would likely not happen, and a bit less focus would go to the "war on terrorism". Supposing the Warsaw pact is gone, some sort of trade zone would likely be set up as a sort of successor. Overall, I don't think much would change, the USSR would be more isolationist no matter what, but would serve as a balance against some of the US incursions, especially in the 1990s-2000s, but now, 2020s, the world would be pretty much similar.
