>>935763300 (OP)Government sucks.
Economy dictated by 10 american tech companies using us as a hax haven. Huge GDP the benefits of which are not seen by the Irish people and fuels our housing crisis and rising costs of living, no one can afford to buy or rent their own home.
Migration quickly becoming a point of contention here, because migrants receive ample aid, accommodation, education, welfare etc. but the Irish struggle to avail of such benefits. Social issues and public safety are also concerns where immigration is involved. There is now latent potential for a far right, racist party to get into government.
Fun fact: The party that one our last national election did not get into power because a number of their political rivals formed a coalition to keep the current party in power, meaning we are literally ruled by people we didn't vote for. It's been like this for 12 years.
Ireland's forests are dying, and the governmental body made to promote forestry mostly funds plantations for forestry, where the trees are felled and exported to be manufactured in other countries. Homogeneous forests are having a negative effect on our ecology.
The government/aristocratic class are basically exploiting us/the land to stuff money into their pockets at our expense.
When it comes to the Irish people themselves, they're extremely friendly, welcoming and laid back people. Unfortunately it's what's left us open to exploitation.
