In my darkest of days, my most desperate moments, I could always rely on a sunny day in the garden to give me a sense of momentary peace.
There is something wonderful about the sunshine, I do not know why, it is just energy on the skin.
The wisest of the fallen will crawl through broken glass to sit in the daylight when his pain is all he can see, for he remembers the times that he shone as bright as the light that resides outside; his sanctuary; his freedom; his lack of concern.
I take my dog into the sunlight every so often and she rolls on the grass like she is completely happy. What is this primordial force which gives us such peace? How do all animals love it so? Why is it not essential to our bodies yet gives us a sense of freedom from worry?
The mind is a strange bird, it ponders nothing to be sure it is right. It finds freedom in containing itself. It hopes ever so slightly amidst the darkness just because the body feels warm and the scenery is natural.
My hope lies there tomorrow.
