Got pulled over last night and had my car impounded for drunk driving without insurance. i was sobered up too and totally coherent, but i blew over so i guess it doesn't matter.
anyways now i'm broke, my girlfriend is mad and i still have to tell me dad :( also probably getting a year-long license suspension.
fuck my life

look at this faggot propping up a MANDATORY INSURANCE INDUSTRY what a fucking tool
here's how insurance should work: you get insurance for your car. if your car is damaged in an accident, you file a claim with your insurer. if you dont have insurance, you cant file a claim, obviously. too bad, thats the risk you assumed not having insurance.
instead we have this horseshit where you are insuring other people, and if you want better insurance that actually covers you, it costs more.
this is all enabled by making it illegal to drive without insurance. this is how the state, in collusion with insurance companies, fucks you.

You’re a fucking idiot. Nobody cares about your shitbox and the fact you live paycheck to paycheck. It’s the other innocent people whose car you damage or that you injure or kill that insurance is for.

In the little pisshole town I used to live in, the town had an unusually high number of drunks failing the station breathylizer until one person demanded a blood alcohol test at the hospital from a blood sample. Surprise, surprise, he passed way below BAC limit. Turns out one of the cops was saving the city money by "adjusting" the unit at the station instead of the professionals that were supposed to do it to "save the city some money" Court ended up having to throw out many months of DUI convictions because of it.

to elaborate, the whole point of insurance in this scenario is to spare me the trouble of sueing OP.
because i have insurance, i'm fine. i was responsible, and my responsiblity saves me trouble.
if i'm poor, like OP, and i can't afford insurance, i can still drive. but i have to acknowledge the reality that if i am in an accident, i cannot file an insurance claim, and i may sue or be sued, but since the "cause" of an accident can be difficult to determine, victory is no assured thing. often both drivers are at fault in an accident.
this makes everyone responsible FOR THEMSELVES. get insurance, be insured. like life insurance, health insurance, home insurance... these are FOR YOUR PROTECTION. only in DRIVING do we mandate insurance for an otherwise mundane activity, an activity most people simply cannot avoid because we have to get to work on time.

Spoken like a burden to society who has other people pay for his mistakes constantly
Stuff like medical insurance is bullshit, but car insurance is a necessary evil because shitters like you are irresponsible and risk everyone else's lives because you're a lousy drunk

Been down that road anon. It sucks.
Fortunately, I just ended up in the ditch and had to do one of those diversion programs and have an interlock device in my vehicle.

I rather enjoyed the program as I'm antisocial so it was a nice opportunity to meet people. The interlock thingy was a pain in the ass.

Stay strong and stay out of the ditch.

my scheme is better and more responsible. it transfers responsibility for our own vehicle liability to you. it does not require others to exercise responsibility FOR YOU. in the event of injuries, or damages in excess of your insurance (which you pay for, and presumably you can pay for more comprehensive insurance, like any other insurance plan), you can take your chances suing the other driver.

car insurance is only necessary because it's legally mandated. it's not a necessary evil at all. it is in essence a sort of socialization of insurance, by making sure every single driver is insured, by law, with the consequences of not having insurance being having your car and maybe your driver privleges taken away. this can be absolutely ruinous for people.
in many cases driving is not optional. if you want to work, you typically need to drive. if you don't have a car, LIKE ME, you structure where you work and live around public transport. busses don't go everywhere in my city, so this limits where i can work or live. one reason i don't have a car is because i'm not going to participate in this predatory scheme where the government makes insurance companies richer by making everyone by insurance.
they tried to do this shit with health insurance too. it was get insurance, or be fined for not having insurance. either way you get fucked out of more of your money. fuck the government and fuck socializing responsibility. be responsible for yourself.

Don't drink and drive. You're not just putting yourself at risk. You are putting everyone on the road around you at risk too. Thank God that the only thing that happened was you got a ticket and an impounded car. If you fucked up and got someone killed, you could be in jail right now, probably for a very long chunk of your life.

Use this moment as a learning tool and never do it again. If you are drinking, get a ride. Doesn't matter if you feel coherent. If you get drunk, do not get behind the wheel.

they're also doing this with rentals and renters insurance. it's not the government as far as i know, and it's voluntary, in that you don't have to sign a rental lease. but i think they're all in collusion requiring rental insurance, which means if you want to rent, you need rental insurance. my lease demands rental insurance with a liability limit 10x what mine offers. TEN FUCKING TIMES. so i pay for rental insurance that fits my needs, AND pay a penalty for not having sufficient rental insurance.
people of little income like me are needlessly burdened by these insurance costs, and most of us will never utilize insurance anyway. in the case of rental insurance, it's specifically to protect the rental property itself. that's why the liability limit is so high. i don't have $100,000 dollars worth of stuff. i have maybe $10,000 worth of stuff. but i have to pay to insurance the entire unit in case i burn it down or something. i'm already disinclined to burn the unit down; i don't want to be sued.
