>>935840883 (OP)I was skeptical from the beginning, but my upbringing instilled a kind of "fear of contemplation" about matters of faith. Our role as God's children was to love and fear and worship Him, not question whether He existed.
As soon as I didn't live with my parents anymore and felt free to openly express and explore my doubts, they quickly grew into a strong suspicion that it was all just a kind of enormous, self-perpetuating meme. There was no moment I decided there was no God, but there was a moment when I recognized I had never seen any evidence for God and couldn't plausibly believe such extraordinary claims without any evidence, and I suppose that's when I lost my faith, if I ever had any.
