I have a bunch of mental health issues, and am severely overweight.
I want to go on a 3 month fast to lose about 90 pounds of fat/muscle to reset my relationship with food and start over.

How do I do this? I will be taking vitamin and mineral supplements so I don't die..
but how do I maintain the fast, how do i keep up my willpower?

Maybe just try a few hours or days at a time?
It feels like you might be setting yourself up for failure.
Also, I get insanely weak from fasting.

I like how you mentioned resetting your relationship with food.
It’s for sustenance not pleasure.
This doesn’t mean you can’t eat tasty food, just different.
I absolutely love vegetables now, and crave cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts asparagus ect. I started a garden and everything. Totally different than the shit from the store.
I grew these monster beats that literally made me feel like I had just drank coffee. I just bake them in the oven. So good. You can eat all you want.
Local eggs. Just different while you change slowly adding cardio and weights.
Drink water. No sugary drinks. No bread.
Good luck

Starving makes your body retain fat. What you need is increased metabolism. That means consistently exercising when you wake up and eating the right foods. Cardio first and then move on to building muscle. More muscle is good for weight loss.
There is also things to consume to prevent your body from absorbing fats that you digest which more or less give you oily shits.
Or so I would say normally but trying to do cardio if you are too fat may be physically hazardous.

Alright, you actually sound serious. First, remember that you *must* eat. No matter what. Blackouts and/or organ damage is NOT productive.
So, the best diet plan I've consistently seen work, year after year is Weightwatchers. It cost's some real money but I've seen it work good for people. Their meals. Their way. You're not hungry and the flab goes away. I don't work for them..... just sayin'.

I am not well versed in crash diets for the morbidly obese, I feel like that would be its own field of specialty.
However I can say on the other side, when you have a more normal body weight, it's important to remember that your body is meant to keep you alive, adapting to surpluses and famines. That means if you start cutting down FAST on your food intake, your body will expect famine and switch to compiling more fat from what little you are still eating. It's possible that on a crash diet your body will think there's a famine and try to conserve fat rather than deplete it. Again I am not an expert on big people.

I can say a good diet is consistent and nutritious, plus active movement that balances (burns) calories in. If you want to cut down on your body weight then burn more calories than you take in, with an eye towards nutrition. This would probably take a long time if you're big, I would look into books about building positive habits to get yourself on your way.

i used keto to lose a huge amount of fat, its not the easiest since you will feel exhausted the first weeks but it pays off, but remember you still have to watch out for calorie intake

This faggot doesn't say anything about meats. You need meat protein to fully function. These vegan retards are melting their own brains.

>severely overweight
You may want to start with intermittent fasting instead of going straight extreme stuff like keto, OMAD or days straight of water fasting.

>intermittent fasting
As a diabetic and someone who was obese, this was very effective shedding pounds (230 to 160) and managing my blood sugar. Depending on what you do for a living, find what eating window works for you. You can still enjoy the food you love while maintaining a calorie deficit. Control your portions. Try to cut down on sugars and carbs where you can. Up your intake of protein, fiber and gut friendly foods.

Light to moderate exercise is fine. Look into japanese interval walking. Do some research. Baby steps and small victories, anon.

Try a dry fast. Your body will eat muscle over fat if you take in liquids. Not the case if you go dry. You'll have to build up to it though. Start with 16hrs, a few times a week, then do a few 24hrs before you get serious with 3-10 day dry fast.
>But you can only go three days without water before dropping dead on the spot at exactly 72hrs!
False. Especially if you're fat. Water is stored in fat cells. If your body wants it, it has to eat the fat.
Anything you do you'll need willpower. I would suggest taking a vacation if you can afford it. Get out of the house into nature and simply don't bring food except for what you plan on breaking your fast with. Set firm rules and follow them, like don't shower or brush your teeth, to avoid the temptation or habit of taking in any water. You'll easily drop 1.5lbs a day in a dry fast and no, that's not water weight. That's after the water weight comes off.

It isn't too difficult to lose 1-2 lbs a week by generally cutting calories (particularly sweets/drinks/bready shit) and walking 30 minutes
I'd be doing even better but still have a few drinks every night
My mum is well overweight and says its so hard
>has chocolates twice a day
>drinks a soda daily
>has a decadant desert 1-2 times a day
>has a bready muffin/roll/etc twice a day
that shit fucking adds up when being a daily intake
>zero physical activity
just have treats once a week or special occasions until you get to your target weight

OP I've lost 35 kg through fasting etc. Lots of misinformation in this thread.

You're not likely to cause any damage - the whole reason we store fat is so that your body has a source of sustenance when you are unable to find food. Would be a pretty awful biological function if using it was damaging. The horror stories are from when people with eating disorders and a malnourished BMI decide to fast when the body has no reserve to take from.

The main thing with weight loss is calories out vs calories in. Whether you achieve this by doing more "calories out" or eating less "calories in" or a mix depends on what works for you. I found doing a long fast was a great kick-start to better eating habits as it will shrink your stomach and increase your feeling of fullness after a smaller portion. Just look at your normal meals of the day and eat less of it.

If you decide to do a multi day fast I'd advise taking a multivitamin and instead of normal water you're going to want to make some snake juice (water with added salts). Without any salts in your intake the body won't be able to absorb water and you'll piss it all away and become dehydrated regardless of how much you drink.

Also consider a GLP receptor agonist - there's a reason they have become so popular. That shit is effective. Mounjaro is currently emerging as the best product of the current range.

I'm exactly what you would call a doctor but I do know that when you starve yourself, your body essentially goes into survival mode and begins to hold onto everything that it has in order to protect itself.

From what I understand, it's a bad idea to starve yourself. Instead you should be replacing your food with healthier options, as well as exercising to burn more fat than you consume.

Eat healthy things that will still give your body the things that it needs to function, and exercise regularly to burn off the excess slowly but steadily over time.

But don't take my word for it. Your best bet is to consult your doctor. /b/ is not the place to get proper medical advice.

sounds like fasting is something to do carefully.
>Would be a pretty awful biological function if using it was damaging
your body has biological functions for all kinds of bad scenarios, with the goal of limiting damage rather than no damage. if you cut yourself your blood will clot and your skin will heal, but that doesn't mean cutting yourself is a great idea with no side effects.

Fasting in limited quantities is fine, OP specified a three month fast.

Ha, I glanced past that point. Most i did was three days.

Yeah OP that's fucking retarded.

If you want to eat an elephant it's best done in small bites.

Perhaps not the best metaphor for this situation though.
