Neil Armstrong apparently called these pulleys "Brooklyn clotheslines"
While the rovers weighed 210 kg (463 pounds) on earth, in the moon's gravity (1/6th of earth) , they felt like they weighed only 35kg (about 70lbs), meaning they were easily able to lower it out using muscle strength and the pulley, with no cranes or ramps needed.
