Florida man here. Why don't people in the UK simply plan for hot weather? It literally happens every year like clockwork except it's even more reliable than a clock.

Like you can open your windows at night when it's cool, and then close them in the morning so it stays cool inside. You could install a window air conditioner and have at least one cool room. You could wear light clothing and stay in the shade. You could sleep during the day and be active at night. You could drink lots of water and stay hydrated. You could build your houses with insulation so the temperature inside doesn't vary wildly. You could go swim in water, like at the beach or at a public pool.

Instead you all act like it's supposed to be the middle of winter all year and dress like a Hogwarts student and get surprised when hundreds of not thousands die of heat stroke and dehydration like they did every year in recent memory.

33 is nothing. Try 41 with 100% humidity while hurricanes are pointed right at you so you've got to board up your windows and if your home is really shitty you'll have to tie it to the ground or something. For some reason you all think that's a great time to go to Disney world and wonder if driving 30 minutes to get there means you took a wrong turn and you're in some other country.

Why are britfags caught off guard every year by a little warm weather? Then you run around and blame it on climate change, like "hurrrr, It NeVeR uSeD tO gEt ThIs HoT:", like you didn't just get fucked up by this 10 months ago. You faggots don't even have to deal with tornadoes or earthquakes. Get back to us when it hits 45, you have wildfires to the north, and floods to the south.

Lol yeah we're terrible any time the weather fluctuates, hot or cold. It's a bit of a meme here that the country grinds to a complete halt whenever there's even a tiny bit of snow and the heat always fucks us up.

Idk about other people but I do a lot of those things you mentioned to help stay cool. I wonder why people here never really bother with AC in their homes

also the uk is on the water, so humidity is higher, coupled with the fact a large majority of hosues were built in the early 20th century, plus the fact that we dont have ac in a large majority of houses.
the other fact of the matter is, we can go from 35+ degrees one day, to 20 the next day, people dont have time to acclimate to it

less than 5 % of british homes have any kind of AC, while roughly 88 % of us households do.
most houses are built from solid brick, tiny cavities, minimal ventilationand they were purpose-built to keep precious heat in. during a spike that same mass just soaks up solar gain all day and radiates it back at you till 3 a.m.
july averages in london push 60 - 90 % relative humidity; dallas in the same month sits nearer 58% absolute moisture isnโ€™t always higher, but without AC (which also dehumidifies) homes never dry out, so sweat canโ€™t evaporate and your bodyโ€™s main cooling loop stalls.
40.3c 19 july 2022 back in the low 20s 2 days later

I hear it's because they figure "why would a pay ยฃxxx and only use it a couple times a year?". But then you retards jump on tax-funded heat pumps at ยฃ20k a pop. I bet if the government subsidized AC through higher taxation you dipshits would be immediately on your knees, even swallowing if there's a second SmartMeter at play.

I'm sure you're just trolling but the 'license' isn't like a license for owning a gun or something, it's just a tax with a dumb name. It's also not for owning a TV but for watching live TV / BBC. Pretty sure you can just say 'nah I don't use it' and not pay it.
I dunno if Americans pay for their live TV broadcasts through some sort of tax or if it's funded some other way, but it would be the same as that

Not a thing in the US either.
>I dunno if Americans pay for their live TV broadcasts through some sort of tax
There are outlets like NPR and PBS that are tax funded, and you've probably seen them in the news lately with DOGE and all that, but all the Fox, CNN, MSNBC, local news channels, superbowl, olympics, and everything else are paid for by their own ads. I have an antenna and don't pay a dime for broadcast.
The US does have a TV tariff* though. Any panel that comes with a tuner is affected. That's why some companies have started selling large format "monitors" instead of TVs, because they avoid the tariffs, but you don't have a tuner if you want one.

*This tariff isn't new. It's one of the 36,000 US tariffs that have been around forever that people have just accepted and forgotten about, like the chicken tax.
