The trouble with revenge is that you're almost always stooping down to fight. It's highly unlikely that someone above your status has fucked with you. It's almost always someone on your level or below. Because almost all human spite is based on envy or jealousy.
If you take a fight with someone below you, you've already lost.

Also kys for making me reply

it's pretty great if you make some effort and don't do anything stupid or cruel or in a way that hurts others

Revenge is about catharsis and a maladaptive method of setting down boundaries.

Also other anon is right, you are basically admitting you're as shit tier as they are if you do the same thing they did, even with the justification that they should have to live with the same pain they inflicted on others.

Set down boundaries without lowering yourself to their level so they can't do that shit to you again, and move on. Revenge isn't a time machine and won't unfuck what got done to you.

It's simple. Can you answer the following two questions?
>the origin of humanity, and
>what happens to the consciousness, when the heart permanently expires and the brain permanently decays?

If you can't - like absolutely every single person who's ever lived, then nothing is off of the table. NOTHING. That means, technically, you can do whatever the fuck you want. If you can accept the consequences, of source.

Many religions will tell you that "revenge is bad", but can any cunt who follows ANY religion, give you the answer to either of the aforementioned questions? Religion is BASELESS.

>inb4 "hurrr you fedora ATHEIST!"

Never said that, faggot. It just means I don't know along with the rest of you. But I'm willing to consider possibilities. Meanwhile OP, maybe you want to write down the pros and cons - realistically - of your future actions. Then act accordingly.

Happy hunting! (Or lack thereof.)

Really depends on the circumstances, the form it takes, the amount of time thats passed, and whether the individual recognizes they wronged you. You don’t want to spend 10 years out of highschool pining about beating up your old bully or 10 years at a job trying to outdo a ratty yes man that likes to try and make people look bad.

The one time it’s almost always justifiable is within a short span of time and if it’s meant to teach a lesson. Like if for example lets say you make big dinners for the house and your roommate keeps eating the leftovers you keep in the fridge that you set keep setting aside for lunch the next day, so because it happens again you took his fancy leftovers from cheesecake factory to work because fuck bringing a bologna sandwich when you had enchiladas.

Another one that might not be really considered revenge but outing someone is usually fine. If someone dates you on the basis of a lie, involves themself with your friends and family, and then betrays you or does one of them dirty, you have mostly have free reign to do whatever you want when it comes to explaining the truth as long as you too were duped. However if you knowingly helped that person deceive someone in your circle you’re cooked.

>what happens to the consciousness
it goes away

Its hilarious and simultaneously terrifying that so many people clearly don't get that neural death is demonstrably incompatible with consciousness. Even a guy as seemingly "redpilled" about religion as our agnostic poster over here.

I took revenge a few times in my life. 7 times. I'm only counting revenge that involved planning and a plot with a specific outcome that I had to consistently work at to achieve. The first time, it gave me barely a few moments of comfort and a bit of satisfaction. But the grief of what I lost wasn't lessened. And relief from that grief and sadness was what I really wanted and needed. I didn't know that at the time. So my revenge in fact made things much worse for me. Even when I called it justice, it all rang hollow. Like scooping one bucket of water out of the Pacific Ocean, only to see most of even the water you bailed out simply trickle back to the sea.. And you can easily see the ocean wasn't even in the slightest affected. The next time it worked great, I was on a high from it for days. It was revenge against my boss who was severely abusing both his position and everyone under him. He was involved in fraud and stealing sensitive technology our company wasn't even supposed to have. I got him to inadvertently expose himself and hand over the evidence of his crimes to both the State Department and FBI. It was ITAR restricted stuff and he was trying to get it to the Chinese. The others involved women who stole from me or tried to crush me professionally. The bitch who stole from me took over $7,000 from a few of my accounts. Despite me buying her jewelry and taking her on trips overseas. She still felt she needed to steal.. So one night I took her to an onsite swingers club she got interested in when she saw a documentary news report about them. Got her a little drunk, then basically threw her like raw meat at the wolves. She was three hole plugged by a bunch of strangers when I skipped out and went back home. Putting all of her stuff out of the front door. She just wanted to go see, and she thought I'd "keep her out of anything". She showed up around 6 in the morning, crying and puking. I just didn't open the top bolt. Cont.

I had laid the groundwork before that night. Whenever she mentioned we were going to that swingers club to friends I'd roll my eyes where they could see but not her. When they asked me about it away from her, "I don't want to go, but she's oddly interested." Then after "Yeah, she just went insane and started fucking everything in the place!! I couldn't stop her!!!" I heard later she was fucked unprotected by at least 20 guys, and ended up with HIV and Hep C. Her friends and family turned on her when I pressed charges on the theft a few months later. That way no connection could be made as I claimed I reported the thefts upon discovering them when doing my taxes. She got murdered by some crackhead she was dating several years later. The other one that wasn't worth it was a neighbor who kept annoying me. It was in an apartment complex. He'd play music a bit too loud some nights. Leave trash by his door occasionally. Just basic annoying stuff. One day he parked his car so close to mine I had to get in on the passenger side. I knocked on his door and asked him to please not do that again. He just mumbled "fuck off" and slammed his door. So I waged a war against him. Sliced his bags of garbage open with a razor wearing a mask after waking in and out of the complex from well out of any cameras. But only on days he had missed pick up, which was at least twice a month. The other neighbors were already unhappy with him, so it was easy to escalate. Started putting hypodermic needles around wherever he parked, then in the corridors near our doors. Anonymous "just so you know, Mr. Asshole is a child molester" flyers on car windows. Rumors quickly grew, often without my help. Then I bought a bunch of extreme gay porn mags and stuck mailing address labels on him to the covers. Then left them in very inappropriate places. Nobody even bothered to question that no such magazines are delivered like that. The property manager had it and evicted him. Cont.

But he passes away before the eviction process goes all the way through. I find out he was diagnosed with brain cancer, and his family had abandoned him because he was getting so unpleasant and messed up as the cancer advanced. His sister who came to pick up his stuff said that he was a very nice person before the cancer, but just became gruff and stopped taking care of himself just before the diagnosis. I felt like utter and complete shit. But everyone including his sister attributed everything to "guess it was just the cancer making him do all of that". That last one was the last one, and was over 20 years ago. I decided it's not worth fucking up like that again. I still occasionally visit his grave and apologize.. I raised my kids telling them revenge usually isn't worth it. And I gave them the honest details when they were mature enough to hear them. My daughter was a little disappointed in me when I told her, told me she never thought I was ever like that. I told her that people can change, alot, especially after becoming parents and after learning hard lessons. My advice is that normally, most times, revenge isn't worth the risk of you finding out you're the dumb fuck in the equation. If you are going to put the effort into revenge, you should also put in the effort to find out if revenge is worth it or not...

So you're completely wrong.

>The trouble with revenge is that you're almost always stooping down to fight.
That's not trouble at all.

>It's highly unlikely that someone above your status has fucked with you.
That is 100% false. We got the Food Pyramid because powerful people fucked us. We got our money's spending power eroded away to practically nothing because powerful people fucked us. We got SV-40 and the dawn of the War on Cancer because powerful people fucked us.

>It's almost always someone on your level or below.
Who cares?

>Because almost all human spite is based on envy or jealousy.
That's your erroneous opinion. Justice and a thirst for it exists.

>If you take a fight with someone below you, you've already lost.
I don't care if the person raping my 8 year old daughter is 13 years old. My 30+ yr ass is going to rip his face off.

Get a fucking clue, dude.

>Is revenge worth it?
It depends on so many things. What are you thinking about doing? Legal revenges like malicious compliance have a very low price tag attached to them and can often be very worth it. Illegal revenges can carry life sentences and so how likely are you to get away with it? If caught, how is a jury going to judge you? How justified are you in taking this revenge? How thirsty are you for this revenge?

>Have any of you ever taken real revenge and was it worth it
Yeah sure, petty as it was.
There was a girl I had a crush on in Middle School. At the school dance she asked me to dance and alluded to there being something more going on. The next day turns out it was just a big set up and she and her friends laughed at me for thinking I had a chance. Cried my eyes out that day.

Several years later I lost a bunch of weight. I walk into a department store. I grab a couple things and go to check out. As the cashier finishes up with the guy in front of me, she turns to me, and guess who the fuck it was? Middle school girl, only with an easy 80lbs on her now. She starts to chat me up like nothing the fuck happened, super friendly, asking me questions, I'm giving one word answers, and the second she hands me my change, I turned and left while she was talking mid-sentence without saying another word to her, not even a "bye."

Heard an, "Oh," behind me and the start of a sob just as I passed the automatic doors.

Never went back to that store, never saw her again, but I'm glad she knew exactly what I thought about her as a person.

You will understand once you distinguish vengeance from retribution.
The intensity of one's reaction usually matches what’s actually at stake, rather than what's lost.
Someone seeing no quality or quantity in what to come will have no upper limit.

Revenge is like candy.
A little bit is nice, but too much will make you sick and eventually spiritually diabetic.

If someone commits evil and makes you suffer, it is just to make them suffer in turn.
HOWEVER this needs to be done intelligently otherwise you wind up a sad miserable sperg that obsesses over the target of their revenge.

If you were hurt, odds are you were either weak or naive and need to toughen yourself up a bit whether that means working out or just getting smarter.
Then, set some boundaries for yourself and others so that the same hurt does not befall you again
Once you have done this, you can dedicate a small amount of time to fucking over the person that hurt you.

Even if its something as simple as putting on a halloween mask and chucking a brick at their car window at 4AM in the morning then taking a camera free rout home after also leaving your phone at home with the GPS turned on for plausible deniability. (Yes I have done this exact thing and it felt fucking great)

Basically, if the opportunity presents itself, take revenge but don't be a retard about it.
