the speed of light is only the rate of the hysteresis of the medium
in other words it is the maximum rate of propagation of light but it is not a speed limit for matter itself
there is not an upper limit for rate of travel provided you have the energy to propel yourself infinitely faster

it would stretch but it would not become a "singularity", implying a black hole
and by the way so-called black holes are not infinitely dense like science fiction tends to make people believe
they are stars with masses so great light cannot escape their influence

Red shift and the expansion of the universe

Basically not only is the universe expanding, it's expansion is increasing in velocity. It's getting bigger at a faster rate. So much so that some galaxies have their light shifted towards red when it reaches us.

The universe is so unfathomably large that 99% of the visual interpretations you see of it in our art, media, even a lot of scientific displays, is done at the wrong scale to make it more comprehensible for us. We do it entirely passively, you draw the stars visible in the Milky Way, you see the galaxies next to eachother, we place stars on maps like they’re close neighbors.
But everything is so far apart that all of humanity will have evolved and will degrade to dust before we even leave a trace of our existence with enough range to potentially touch another civilization.
Space is something our monkey brains literally can not comprehend. When we start to think about what the numbers mean we can’t visualize it.
For example

If this were true then why is the cosmic microwave background radiation uniformly the same temperature in all experiments conducted? Why are all galaxies except andromeda (which is gravitationally very close) flying away from us at speeds exponentially proportional to their distance from us? There isnt a lot of bias in the measurements. The cosmic background radiation is uniform meaning there was likely an expansion event l, that expansion is still happening and this can be measure by the redshift in light from other galaxies.
