>inb4 Op is a faggot
I recently bought a ds lite because I used to have one when I was a kid and it is a bit nostalgic, I was in the mood to revisit a few games from my childhood. I bought a game for it and it didn't read.
How do I know if the game is fucked and it doesn't read because it is beat to shit or if the actual device is fucked?
I ordered another game but just curious

OP, you are a dumb faggot. Imagine buying DS / 3DS games when homebrewing is actually piss easy and every single game is available for free. You follow a guide that an 8 year old could follow and it takes 20 minutes.

Only two ways to know. Put a different game in. If it works, the problem is the first game. If it doesn't work it's probably the system, but the way after that to know for sure would be to see if the games work in a 2nd system.

You also might need to blow some dust out of the slot with canned air.

I grew up with the lite. the original ds was too big and clunky, it also has issues with the hinges. I dont care for the gimmick that was the 3d effect on the 3ds. I remember it vaguely when it came out but ehhhhh, I like the dual compatability of the ds lite. I grew up with gameboy games too

I would scrub the game slot with rubbing alcohol. I guess ideally you would take that bitch apart and use a tooth brush or qtips on it. But if you're lazy I guess you could just jam something in there soaked in iso and try to clean it that way. I bet it works

thatโ€™s the same argument as reading a book online to not buy it, listening to it, or having it in your hands and flipping through the page

Itโ€™s just preference dawg

If you live anywhere near a major city there's probably a retro game store somewhere nearby. Just go there and ask them to take a look at it, explain the problem and ask if they can test it with one of their games. Worst case scenario they can probably either fix it or sell you one that works.

I actually still have my original DS lite that I bought in like 2009 or so, I still use it pretty regularly. I tend to use things I like until they fall apart instead of upgrading them or buying the new thing, so a lot of my technology is pretty far out of date. I just had it out at one point and was playing games on it when some zoomer came up to me and started gushing over it, asking if it was a real DS and where I got it and whatever the fuck lol.

DS Lite doesn't have an SD slot retard. That's why nobody wants them. His only option is flash cart.

Does it cost much to repair or maintain them given that it is a nearly 2 decade system? I'm not against paying in repairs. Bummer since I bought the ds off ebay and it was "refurbished". The game on the other hand was a gamble. These are old games and systems so it is all sort of a goose chase

The OG DS and DS Lite can play GBA games, and again the OP bought it because he was nostalgic about that specific model.

Yes, you could homebrew a DSi or a 3DS and emulate old games that way, but I believe you could also run an emulator on an original DS using a flashcart.
