You know how when you rub your hands together after being outside you'll get the dark dead skin deposits (see pic on right) . I rub most of my body, legs, arms, chest and belly and collect these deposits when freshly collected. They have a claylike feel and property due to the skin oils. I shape these into small balls but as I build them up they dry out so adding new skin to the pile is difficult as the old balls slowly turn to dust. I've recently noticed that rubbing alcohol seems to have the effect of hydrating the mass so i dumped all of my most recent deposits into a small cup with some rubbing alcohol this created a grey and homogenous sludge that i then spread on printer paper to absorb the excess rubbing alcohol once it returned to a clay like state i shaped it into the cube in the middle (quarter for scale). I figured if anyone else did this they would be here but I doubt anyone else has done my alcohol method before. Feel free to ask questions.

Is that the most you've collected?
How long did it take to get that much and how much does it weigh?

At 5g a week, you could make stuff out of it
Have you considered getting enough to make sculptures or something?
Making something entirely out of "you" would be cool

it's not a very strong substance, it's prone to cracking when dehydrated. I think with the right ratio i could make a sort of plaster that could be used to fill a mold tho

If it actually has structure like clay, that's very coincidental since hair would actually be the solution

Today OP delivered.
I do something similar with the buildup in my bathtub. Didn't know that about rubbing alcohol though you pioneer. I just smoosh them into a pile and throw it out.

How hard is the cube once it dried up? And how uniform/mechanically resilient/brittle? Does it crack as it dries up, or is your discovery so fresh you rushed to share it here before it had a chance to evaporate all the alcohol?

>>936497920 has a cool idea, wondering how viable dead skin is as a sculpture material. Maybe you could mix the alcohol with some non-evaporating plasticiser like a bit of glycerine or linseed oil to keep it from shrinking/cracking. Linseed oil would naturally polymerise and harden with time making the structure more durable with time.

I had previously experimented with this method but the cube is the first “large scale” test. Cracks form after drying but don't typically lead to collapse until pressure is put upon. The strength is most comparable to cheap dried out deodorant.

Thicker liquids would be harder to mix but linseed oil might be worth it for strength. although that would take away from the artistic vision that people seem to be attracted to here. If i was going to make this a “Me sculpture” i would use hair from my brush as shown in the vid

Or your own skin oils/sebum, though how you collect that other than not washing your hair to unsociable degrees and scratching off the sebum(skin oil)-rich dead skin off your scalp. Fully-you but gross to accomplish.

Oh wow I used to rub my sweaty hands together as a kid and get these dark strips of skin, sweat and dirt.

This is totally awesome. Please find a way to solidify these cubes.

Maybe dye the cubes as well, so you can make an 8x8 chessboard.

And then work on checkerboard (or chess pieces, if you are daring).

my first memory of these deposits was at recess. there was a magic trick where you would pretend to cut somones hair with your fingers and to catch the hair in your hands then rub your hands together so that the "hair" would appear.

a king pice might be interesting
