Let's make it a fair hypothetical: The rest of the US was once all Florida but the land got occupied and you were driven into Florida as your only piece of land while depriving it of being a state/country, the US then walled off Florida, treat them as second class citizens, shoot at them at random, make settlements picking off their land, embargoing import of goods to starve them... Israel literally removed the "settlements," the "walls," and the military presence you mentioned. They gave Gaza complete autonomy—no Israeli soldiers, no Israeli civilians, full border control with Egypt. It was exactly the kind of gesture that should have addressed many of your concerns.

Hamas's response? They used that freedom to import weapons, build military tunnels, and launch rockets. If Hamas were truly motivated by the grievances you listed, wouldn't they have used Gaza's independence to build a thriving society and prove what Palestinians could accomplish?

Hamas's 1988 charter makes clear their goal isn't reforming Israeli behavior—it's eliminating Israel entirely. Article 11 declares ALL of historic Palestine to be Islamic land that can never be "squandered" or "given up."

That's not seeking justice for specific wrongs. That's rejecting any Jewish presence anywhere in the region.
