Okay so my friend drove me to the woods in great wyrley today, we walked for about 40 minutes and came across this femur in a tree, it had the patella and the head of the tibia. The cartilage is holding it all together but it’s all decaying. It was so far away from anything. The way it’s been cut looks like someone’s been dismembered

boredom?
it looks old would be difficult to see blood staining, indicating it had been cut while the heart was pumping, i do think a deer would be above chewing its own leg off or a separate animal scavenging the deer remains from a failed leap through the crux of that tree.

this was my other thought but i figured that the bone would have probably come loose off the tree if another predator/scavenger had gotten to it no?

It’s “cut” the end that goes towards the foot is it not? Why could anybody do that to a deer, surely you’d want the body?

i mean i cant really see the slice but no i would say probably not. im completly ignorant when it comes to bone identification but looks like it could be human to me honestly. are you gonna contact the authorities or jus say fuck it and leave it?

It was around from the tip of my fingers to elbow, maybe 40-45cm?

BUMP I am 99% sure that’s a human femur

Medfag here, a human one would have marks in this type of pattern due to muscular insertion points, which can not really be appreciated in pics, if you got more or can see them in person, its human, report it just in case.
