happy self improvement day /b/!

itt we share what we did today in a effort to better ourselves. if its something you already do on a regular basis or not done explicitly for trying to make yourself better it doesn't count.

i'll go first:

for exercise i did 20 squats, 10 pushups, 30 jumping jacks, walked 10 miles, and touched my toes without bending my knees 10 times. next self improvement day i'll focus on abs and general flexibility/mobility.

for hygiene/cleanliness i brushed my teeth and used mouthwash, applied deodorant, and showered properly. i also wiped off my desk, swept and mopped my floors, and cleaned my microwave.

for practical skills i spent some time practicing handwriting, learned how to bundle rope, and learned how to cook some decent quality biscuits. the fluffy bread kind not cookies for the eurofags present.

for just general education i watched 10 videos from professor dave's math playlist and read the wikipedia article on usenet.

for computer skills i wrote a python script to automatically convert all videos in current working directory to x264 with a crf of 30 and continued to learn/practice using blender. the picrel desktop background was made with blender yesterday or the day before i think.

i don't know if i'm any better than i was yesterday but i definitely prefer it over not doing anything and just wasting away.

poorfag so don't really have much selection; but mashed potatoes and rice go surprisingly well with it. like seriously, even if i could get something else i think i'd pair them again sometime. for the mashed potatoes i mixed in some sliced radishes i grew myself, do recommend.

all i've done today is think about being productive. It's easier to imagine success than to achieve it.

its actually pretty nice, i'm pretty sure its targeting children but ngl i have lower mental capacity than a literal child rn so despite the degrading feeling i get from doing so i have to recognise that its probably the best path for me. the results are more important than what anyone thinks of it. all the videos are in small 5-10 min segments and even have a little test at the end to see if you actually understood it correctly/put them into practice.

yeah but once you start doing it its a lot easier to continue.

getting myself to do anything is the biggest hurdle in the world. It'll take me days to motivate myself to do a 5 minute task.

Took a fucking shower, brushed my fucking teeth for the first time in forever, trimmed my year old depression hobo beard, deodorant and body spray, clean clothes, socks, all that good shit.

Petty shit a functional human should be doing every day but iunno it feels like an achievement when you've been stuck in a black void for months and months and months

you're not alone there.

hey, its something. yeah you should have been; but thats not something you should use to dismiss your progress. everyone struggles with something, what matters is the effort. if you want to improve then you need to identify all your weaknesses and take action. don't stop now though, get into the habit of doing it every day then start on the next one without stopping. even if you end up progressing backwards make sure to not give in and get yourself back up there. the second time is easier usually just don't be hard on yourself and get back to where you want to be.

progress doesn't happen immediately or even consistently, and sometimes you don't even realize you made it
keep at it, even if you don't achieve your goals there is a kind of fulfillment in trying your best every day anyways :)

There might be a girl, iunno. I'm pretty sure there definitely won't be if I can't even keep up with basic day to day shit like hygiene though.

One way or another it feels like just enough motivation to pull myself out of a hole and give shit an honest attempt at least and I guess I'm gonna run with that. Feels kinda weird using someone that may or may not like me as motivation but I guess whatever works works.

if you searched long enough you'd probably be able to bag a chick into that. maybe with a washing fetish or something idk.

you could alternatively use yourself as motivation. you like yourself too don't you anon?

Not really, no. A large part of me really despises myself, I think I kinda enjoy watching myself scramble and suffer.

In a weird way the concept of getting my shit together feels wrong, like I'm doing it just to spite myself.
