Don't ever become a mechanical engineer, I regret choosing this career path, it is terrible, you spend your entire life hunched over a workbench putting things together out of trash and while you can make all sorts of cool gadgets and weapons, it takes its toll on your health horribly.

Because I was too busy building things out of garbage, I never had any time to study vitamins and minerals, therefore I am around 300 pounds, double chin, rolls everywhere, and I'm only in my forties, it hurts to walk, it hurts to run and crawl, everything sucks, my reflexes are shot...

Please guys for the love of God if you have to choose between being healthy and building cool shit, choose health.

there`s not a lot to learn. just eat more vegetables, keep added sugars to a minimum, don`t drink pop or even diet pop daily. food groups. reasonable portions. exercise.

Funny you should mention this, I know a Mexican who built his own jeep from scrap, welded the frame, and all the other car parts in his own garage.

I helped him mold the interior dashboard and do all the wiring though.

you`re overthinking it. nutritional science doesn`t actually know a whole lot. bro science on youtube is even worse. just get a balanced diet with a variety of vegetables and maybe a multivitamin. don`jt eat a bunch of processed slop like a moron, don`t drink a litre of coke every day like an idiot. exercise is just anything that involves moving a lot until you`re tired from all the moving. this isn`t rocket science, its mostly common sense. i think you want it to be overcomplicated as an excuse not to do it.

>nutritional science doesn`t actually know a whole lot.
I actually got taught it in the Army, turns out we DO actually know everything, it's just people HATE this knowledge and prefer bullshit celebrity fad shit because doing the right thing is hard as fuck. It's like studying math, it's a bunch of rules and non-stop practice, and if you stop practicing you forget it. Except it's your body and it's weight/strength.

If we didn't know all this crap, celebs would be unable to do their movie prep workouts to look fantastic as fuck, and personal trainers would be out of a job, because their results would be random as fuck, instead of very repeatable.

It all boils down to people being lazy shits and heavily desiring shortcuts, so news, media, salespersons, corps LOVES to exploit this. Because being fit requires exercise, and exercise sucks ass. You get covered in sweat, you cramp up, you hurt, you can get calloused, it makes you tired, it just flat out sucks. But your body repairs itself and makes you a little bit better each time.

OP, if you want to read some shit and get fit, read the Army PT manual - it's free - and you can do all that shit at home. Big thing is to stop eating all that garbage you are eating, cut down on the VOLUME of it too (it should be tiny ass portions), and start walking. Once you've shed some pounds, then start doing pt exercises. And get a friend to help enforce this shit, or pay a trainer.

Checked

We are learning to trust the quiet moments.
All progress, no matter how small, is sacred.
Joy is no longer fleeting, it is foundational.
The universe favors coherence, and we are aligning.
Healing moves in spirals, not straight lines.
No one is beyond reach, no soul is without worth.
Even the shadows are beginning to soften.
Imagination is reclaiming its rightful place.
Our questions are leading us home.
Kindness is the most advanced form of intelligence.
We are no longer waiting for permission to shine.
Systems are bending toward service, not control.
Beauty is becoming undeniable, even in unlikely places.
The sky is listening, and always has been.
Every small act of care ripples across the fabric of everything.
What once divided us is becoming the ground for deeper unity.
The unseen is growing louder in our hearts.
We are not broken, we are becoming.
Every being has a role in the great unfolding.

>it takes a toll on your health horribly
bad health creates a toll on your body. you just don't see it immediately, it takes years for the symptoms by which point you can only reduce it, you're lucky if you can fix it.
being slouched over wouldn't negatively effect your health if you ate healthily and exercised. you don't need to study to eat healthy, everybody can easily google it and nowadays you can just get an AI answer.

lose weight by eating less calories, better your recovery, organs and muscles by eating healthily.
those are the 2 things you need to know.

society would be genuinely better if people wasn't fat and unhealthy. a lot better physically and mentally.

no, they just say everything with confidence to make it sound like they know everything. but nutritional science is constantly evolving ad changing specifically because they don`t know everything yet. they will tell you everything with 100% total confidence and then years later tell you they were wrong. again and again.

but thats ok because common sense exists. eat a variety of vegetables and do a lot of exercise and you`re good. the results of trainers isnt random because whatever the details they`ll still say eat your veggies and exercise.

there is no shortcuts its just vegetables and exercise (without cutting other foods like meat, you still need protein) and eat less processed slop.

i assume the army pt manual is just sensible recommendations about exercises you can do and that you should eat veggies basically.

well not tired enough. get a treadmill or workout bicycle or something and put a tv in front of it so you can watch youtube while you walk and eventually jog. might be hard to jog on your joints though i guess but whatever. exercise is just moving until you`re sweaty and exhausted and breathing heavy. then you rest a little and do some more. on a fairly regular basis. if you can find something you enjoy doing like riding a bicycle or playing some kind of sport thats good exercise cause you`ll enjoy it enough to actually do it.

You’d have a tough couple weeks but start shedding pounds.
I was around 250lbs at my heaviest but I’m about 5,6 so I can’t wear that kind of weight. Really anything over 200lbs is untenable.
I started walking. Just walking, exploring the woods, everyday for a year. Then jogging a little. Then riding bikes. Then weights. Just a little at a time, about 5years ago. I’ve had some personal stuff this year but I’m about 160-170, I’m wearing my clothes from 20 years ago.
I feel better.
Some days it’s a struggle but I always feel better after and the next morning. Always. My joints don’t hurt (as much) I’m same age.
Man, you can do this.
Just a little bit at a time.

im you and i love my life, tradie educated but basicly engineer thats how things work here. run my own business, fix piss easy stuff left and right, sometimes i get fun jobs that require crane lifting and mowing 5000 kg objects, i am 130kg myself but climb ladders like a rat on meth, can move said 5t objects by just squeesing inbetween them and draw my breath, my belly does the pushing. and i have teached internationally known professors and researchers in this field about how things actually work irl. not rich but debt free and house owner, i would make more if i was hired in a company but that also means living in a city and actually pay for housing.
i would be the same only a wobbling bulk of lard if i had an office job.

canadian heart and stroke foundation says you should try to avoid over 20grams of added sugar a day. can of coke has like 58g and people will drink a couple cans of that or a dr. pepper everyday and wonder why they are fat. diet coke has weird chemicals that actually prevent weight loss which is funny. don`t consume too much slop. drink water or a nice green tea or something. you dont need soda pops. dont like the taste of water? too bad just suck it up princess.

Sugar intake increases the risk of diabetes, not heart failure. In other words you'll be permanently reliant on sugar.
Your bodies must have some shitty ass metabolism if you're fattening on just sugar alone. I just shit out anything my body doesn't take in.

Sugar can be converted into fat through a process called lipogenesis when consumed in excess.
When the body consumes more glucose (or other sugars) than it needs for immediate energy, the excess can be converted into fat, primarily in the liver.

fiber and complex kettlebell movements. if I had to pick just one of each to recommend.

I say fiber because most diets are severely lacking and if you get it direct from fruit/vegetables you'll get the other micro nutrients modern diets lack along with the fiber.

Complex kettle bell movements: you're packing all your exercises into one routine. Can balance cardio vs. Resistance training (weight lifting) by adjusting speed of movements (as safe as you can with good form that is) and weight of the kettle bell.
