Do you think it would be an overall positive if it got to the point where we could have indoor holograms with our own personalized 3D modeled companion displayed on the hologram? When someone codes the app/program. Could be today, could be years from now. There are plenty of engines, plenty of toolsets, and the codebase is out there. Just gotta build it the the tools and models available to you.

I would be happy with just a customizable hologram with an AI that programs itself to always be the perfect companion. I don't even want sex. I just want to feel loved.

I'm waiting for it too and a cool thing is it's definitely a possibility in our lifetime where it could be as simple as buying a $500 console, but at the same time they could be heavily regulated in some way. There's also the issue of government spying on you through your robowaifu. I just want to get to the point in time where I can have an AI companion play vidya with me, like play an MMO together.

We already have that. Some weebs made holograms to display Miku and other waifubots. Personalized sex dolls are "kinda" here. In the sense you can change wigs/clothes on them, but the face bit is fixed to the original purchase.

Think of it this way. Real dumb players exist, and when you aren't communicating with them they practically feel like bots themselves because of how dumb they are. Playing with someone and talking with them feels a lot different. Even if you're friend is bad, you're still having fun playing with them. I think the same could work out with an AI companion. You'll just have to block out the uncanny feeling of knowing they're not real people, and that they can't replace a real friend because with a real friend you can form long lasting memories.

Yeah most of these chat bot websites have some sort of "create your own" feature. pretty easy to make your own character/scenario using PromptCowboy or something.

Yeah honestly that's one of my fears with AI in general. That it'll get so monetized that it'll all turn into mobile games.
