Doctors and scholars of /b/ You know when you quickly glare at the sun and then when you blink you have a negative after-image of what you just looked at? I have exactly that but not correlated AT ALL to me looking at anything bright. I would just be sitting and then all the sudden I would have an after-image-like blind spot. Exactly like the one in this video. Wtf is happening? So far I've seen my primary doctor and an opthamologist. All kinda scans were done:

Fundus, OCT, pressure check, dilated eye exam etc. Next up is the Neurologist but it takes like fucking 6 months to get into one.

Anyone else ever have anything like this?

why the fuck would you let them keep ordering more tests for such a minor issue?? they are padding their pockets because you are a bitch and keep accepting their follow up appointments and referrals

migraine aura and PVD r common considerations but presumably uve already had PVD ruled out. some of the conditions are def associated with vision loss but a lot of the scary ones like retinal detachment im sure have been ruled out by now w imaging, by OCT r u referring to an orbital CT or smth else

half of the shit my patients get is probably coming from my social security tax so it comes full circle. i do wonder how many of them we end up giving contrast related malignancies with the bajillion CT scans they get

lol yea that would be my response to someone if I didn’t really know what was going on

statistically speaking esp if ur young its most likely to be a migraine which is kind of a shitty answer cuz migraines r annoying and notoriously nonspecific sorry

maybe in the interim u can see if ur PCP is willing to trial some migraine meds to see if they help

Neurologist here. Any other symptoms? Like headaches? Increase in allergy symptoms? Is it constant or just random? History of other eye issues?

Don't know what an eeg will do. If there's something going on with the eye nerves you'll just get referred back to a more specialized optho. Brain scan/fMRI might not be financially worth it. Not really my area i focus more on emergency psychiatric/strokes. There's lots of retraining to ignore it, like people ignoring floaters. Presumably your blood levels are okay?

I'm mostly in the ER. It'd be nice if I got paid per test ordered. No one is really lining their pockets but the hospitals and insurance companies. I would say a good portion of people I see are on Medicare, medicaid or simply not insured. We really are just parts in the circle.
