This is just another step towards the ultimate goal of capitalism. Accruing capital has been solved, that isn't important to TPTB anymore. Now it is (again) about production and consolidation rather than accumulation.
So, what you're looking at is part of the current solution to the "problem" of raising humans, the goal is to automate raising humans to be productive contributors to production (research, development, creation, progress) or die off (preferably alone and without connection to society).
In your example, most regular people won't even type their own request, they will willingly be condensed into living a multiple choice life and be directed to where they will be most useful according to the algorithm of the day.
It is insidious to most, but will not be forever.
The culling has never stopped and will never stop, that is a constant law of life.
