I (M Autistic Retard) got broken up with on my birthday by my former (pre-dating) best friend and instead of being mad at her i decided to put all my effort into learning how to be a good friend since i never was. Am i doomed?
She said she still wants to be friends and shes made sure i didnt kill myself day of breakup so she doesnt hate me entirely. I think i should mention shes madly in love with some other person (but presumably that is the mental illness talking in some part) but i can cope wit it

Usually when an ex says she still wants to be friends that just means that she doesn't want you shit talking her behind her back and she won't do that to you either, but just be civil if you happen to be around each other at a social gathering or whatever. Don't be friends like you were before. It never goes well for the guy. Just move on, work on yourself awareness and be a better person then get another gf and learn something new.
