chickens are social creatures, you need at least 3 (ideally 5-7) for them to be happy. tell him to buy more chickens

Your dad needed a hobby after noticing life has no point and no one needs him. Or so I guess. Now he has a hobby and something needs him.
He is probably a sad sack that feels like he has no reason to live. Give him some love if he was good to you.

oh, keeping chickens clean and health is tough because all the hobby farm stuff is too small to climb into and pressure wash. good luck to your father i would be prepared to offer bees as an alternative maybe start getting odd bee knick knacks, bees will allow your father to create space nobody will bother him in, the bee farmer is nearly immune to the bees
