I think you are the major problem.
You have to talk to these kids subliminally. They hate being a work mostly because the boss and customers. If you can reason with them that the world doesn't revolve around them and to at least call. If they quit without 2 weeks notice then it's a confronting a bitch ass sack of shit manager problem.
