Have you considered quitting? As a scumbag alcoholic currently in treatment, I recommend giving it a try.
If your shakes are so bad that they’re truly disabling, you might like to be placed in residential treatment to dry out; they’ll probably sedate you for a while.
Of course, you can also just take a small drink now to make the withdrawal go away, and get on with whatever passes for your day, and perhaps consider tapering down on your own, whether to abstinence or just less harmful levels as you see fit. Lots of problem drunks don’t actually need to quit completely. I do, unfortunately.
If you have access to a doctor, you might ask to try naltrexone—it lessens cravings and reduces the exaggerated euphoric response that most alcoholics get when they drink; it can make some problem drinkers just lose their interest in overdoing it. They can have one and then not feel compelled to keep going.
