I’ve thought about getting into scrapping copper for money, is it worth it and where are some places I can find copper?

Put an ad in local papers that you'll buy scrap copper. Otherwise hit some scrap yards and srart tearing equipment down.

How much money you’d figure I could make by selling it per pound/kg?

The market fluctuates all the time. See what buyers are offering in your area. Prices can go up or down wildly in a week.

You don't get to choose, it's set by the market.

While that may be true for the market in general, copper prices tend to track the economy as a whole. And for that reason economists call it Dr Copper. When the economy is good, people buy more and that includes cars and houses and electronics. Which include lots of copper.

I see. Thank you. On the off chance, do you know if abandoned or building marked for construction are fair game or is that copper theft?

Without mining it or stealing it you don't just "find" copper. You have to be in a business that has access to scrap copper and brass. Like a plumber or electrician.
And as far as pricing, #1 copper is going for $3.00 a pound, #2 copper is $2.75 and clean brass is around $2.00 at scrap yards. Electrical wire pays more because it's 99% pure copper.
t. Plumber.
