She also claimed that the director of the film, Danny D was hesitant to call a medical emergency when her female co-star was facing severe medical issues.

It all started with an anal sex scene. In October 2023, Phoenix Marie traveled from Las Vegas to Barcelona for a shoot with actor/director Danny D, porn star Cherie DeVille, and a newcomer named Zaawaadi, among others.

The shoot took place at a luxury Spanish villa where the cast and crew were also staying for the duration. Phoenix Marie, given her years of experience in the adult film industry, took it upon herself to advise newbie Zaawaadi before her first-ever anal sex scene.

According to the lawsuit filed last year by Phoenix Marie, Zaawaadi had taken three Imodium tablets (an anti-diarrheal) to avoid any “accidents” during the scene. According to Phoenix Marie, three tablets exceeded the recommended dose of Imodium, and so she gave Zaawaadi two natural probiotic pills and two tablets of Senokot, a natural laxative, to help counter any potential complications.

During a bit of downtime between filming, Danny D’s girlfriend, Liss Lacao, who was also the shoot’s makeup artist, told Phoenix Marie that she had been dealing with depression and was taking lithium to self-medicate.

There, she saw Zaawaadi lying on the couch, “shaking violently and screaming that she couldn’t breathe.” She grabbed Zaawaadi’s face and told her that “if she could speak, she was breathing,” adding that she yelled for someone to call an ambulance right away and “started emergency care.”

According to Phoenix Marie, Danny D was “reluctant” to involve the authorities, and waited more than an hour to call an ambulance. Once it became clear that Zaawaadi’s life was in danger, the complaint says, Danny D finally made the call, and an ambulance arrived to take Zaawaadi to the hospital.

Zaawaadi wanted Phoenix Marie to ride there with her, according to the complaint, but Danny D forbade her to leave the set.

When the scene was over, Phoenix says she was “very distraught” about what had happened, and wanted to go to the hospital to check up on Zaawaadi. But Danny D once again forbade her from leaving.

The next morning, the complaint alleges Danny D “lied” to Phoenix Marie, telling her that the police had come to the house late the night before and “forced” him to go to the hospital. He said that Zaawaadi had “overdosed on lithium,” and that doctors had put her in a medically induced coma. Danny D then showed Phoenix a video of Zaawaadi “thrashing around and convulsing” in her hospital bed, the complaint states.

From there it becomes a matter of lithium, lithium, who had the lithium. A group of production executives called a meeting with Phoenix Marie where they said “awful, hurtful things” to her, such as claiming she hadn’t dealt with the death of her daughter from cancer and that she should leave the man she was dating at the time as he was a bad influence on her.

The execs accused Phoenix of drinking and using drugs, claiming she was slurring her speech, and blamed her for Zaawaadi’s condition.

Phoenix claims she has lost more than $100,000 a month in revenue since the incident, and is now suing Danny D, Aylo—the company that operates Pornhub, and a producer of the film, for a reported $80 million.

The story is:

Huh. Not sure how laws in Spain translate to the US. Obviously US law does apply to US citizens abroad, but it's really hard to see her side here:
1. She flew to the shoot. VERY hard to argue non-consent when you board the plane to a fucking porn shoot.
2. As for the abuse bit, that part could be a legit crime depending on if on contract or not. If it was officially part of the scene, it's probably not counting. But if they find coercion was applied for the NDA, that would invalidate it.
3. The medical stuff is probably not gonna stick, that crap is usually on you thanks to my body my choice, so if you took it you accepted the results. You'd need to demonstrate it being forced down your throat to show crime here.
4. Dude was right on the whole breathing thing, and I do get why he was hesitant - drug charges and shit scare them. It's porn, they definitely have coke and other shit on hand. Didn't want the talent getting locked up for drugs.
5. As for the hospital results communication, the girl has NO rights whatsoever to information, that is protected info. Unless she has signed approval to have the other girls med info, she's got nothing here. She can care all she wants, but she has zero legal rights here. And he is free to say whatever.

Court is feminist, so they will probably throw her more money regardless of facts. There is probably just enough shit going on here for real to justify throwing money at her though.
