how much weight can I realistically lose in 1 month? I am meeting some old friends next month and I've gained like 50 lbs (that's 22 kgs in non burger units) since they last saw me. I don't want to look like a complete fatass when they finally see me

You'll burn about 2k every day, so 15-20 pounds if you're lucky.

you might have better results from eating fewer meals per day than eating less at each meal like >>22806467 says
if you eat 6 times per day, but you eat 50% less, you're just gonna feel like shit and hungry all the time
if you eat 1-2 meals per day instead of 6, you'll find it much easier to eat an equally smaller amount of calories per day

you could also go full mode & do an extended fast
you have to regulate your electrolytes and it's a pain in the ass, but you can straight up stop eating for 2 weeks without negative effects
your appetite should go away after around 3 days but it'll be hellish till then

You can lose three pounds of fat a day if you are willing to do dry fasting. But that is an advanced level of fasting. And most people refuse to see how cool it is. You don't eat or drink anything for like 16 hours. You don't even touch water. People like to say you only lose water weight, but you lose fat. So your body gets so thirsty it breaks apart your fat cells to get the water stored inside. Anyways, just do a series of dry fasts until you reach your goal weight. That is the fastest. But it can be intimidating, especially if you have never done any kind of fasting before. Oh, and you also need to take salt pills, magnesium pills and potassium pills; otherwise, you will get dizzy and sleepy.

Another thing you can try that's less hardcore. Just normal water fasting. You don't eat anything. And you drink as much water as you want, maybe through in some coffee/tea with no sweetness or milk. Maybe you can chew some gum. And you will lose 1 pound of fat a day. That one is totally safe and easier to do, especially if you have a job. You still need to take the pills I talked about earlier, though. You will feel hungry for three days but then you enter into an almost meditative state. And you will not feel hunger.

Losing fat is mostly diet. I mean, exercise can help, but doing a dry fast, a water fast, or a coffee fast is the fastest way to lose fat weight.

Anytime I fast , Iโ€™m weak as hell. Really weak. I went for a bike ride during a fast and it took days to recover. Days. Like a bad hangover, sorta.
I donโ€™t know.
I drink lotsa water, sometimes with salt and baking soda. Iโ€™m very active, lifting 5 days a week and 20mi on the bicycle.
But Iโ€™ve absolutely hit a plateau, still not cut. Itโ€™s crazy.

i think "dry fasting" is retarded, and i wouldn't mess with stimulants or hard exercise until you make sure you have the electrolytes in check

That has stevia in it. Be careful with (((sugar free))) food and drinks. Stevia and monkfruit are natural, so companies have been spamming them in a lot of food lately because they can say "no sugar! no artificial sweeteners!". But they cause the same side effects as artificial sweeteners. Stevia is a diuretic, and can cause diarrhea.
It can quickly dehydrate you if you're sensitive to diuretics like me. For the longest time, I assumed clear pee on days I drank something with that, I must be really hydrated today. No, i was peeing all of my water out of my body, and dehydrated as shit, and was why I felt terrible some days.

That's why you take salt pills, magnesium and potassium pills. Magnesium and potassium pills are just like supplements. Maybe I shouldn't have used the pill word. It might have sounded scary. Magnesium and potassium are like vitamins, like vitamin D or whatever.

You buy the supplements and look up how much you need a day, and take that amount of pills. If you overshoot it a little, no worries, they are just supplements. You also need salt pills. You could just try eating the salt you need just straight up or making salt water, but that's gross. I just buy empty pill capsules and make the salt pills by hand with a little bowl of salt, and then put the completed pills in a Mason jar or some other kind of container. Size 000 for the pills, and having about 3 to 4 of them worth of salt will give you the amount of salt you need for a day. You can buy empty pill capsules on Amazon. Triple zero is the biggest size for pills, but if they are out of stock, you can use 00 or whatever; you just need to take more. Just look up how much salt is in like grams or whatever, each pill size takes and look up how much salt you need in a day.

Potassium, magnesium and salt. You take these supplements is the KEY to a successful fast. You can buy all of these on Amazon. Or you can buy potassium and magnesium at your local drug store/pharmacist.

Do a water fast. Take these supplements and you will lose weight without getting tired or dizzy.

day 3. I ate half a donut for breakfast and a small lunch of quinoa, chickpea, and split peas. I have dinner plans with friends and didn't want to eat lunch but I was so hungry and dizzy that I had to eat. I did 30 mins of cardio and lifted some weights to make up for it. I had lost a couple of pounds when I weighed myself this morning but it's down to just a pound after lunch + all the water I drank + a can of olipop

you could try frozen broccoli, small amounts of lean meat, oatmeal, mixed nuts, bell peppers, etc
just stay away from sugar
vegetables and fiberous things will help you avoid feeling dizzy & make your gut biome feel decent
