I got so drunk yesterday a police officer picked me up and drove me home, someone called about me. I have a problem.

i don't get how isolated people begin drinking
like i can understand why you'd have alcoholism in a shitty situation, but what makes people try alcohol in the first place?
does it usually begin in highschool when you're still kinda carefree?

That's exactly how it began for me. When I was as teenager I would drink beer with my uncle and play Halo. It was fun until we decided to drink everclear mixed with grape juice, and I discovered he could be a very mean drunk

Mine began on my 21st birthday when I picked up a 30 pack of beer to celebrate. Problem started when I picked up another 30 pack the day after my birthday... and the day after. Instant alcoholic at 21. 15 years later I experienced acute liver failure.

Take it from me. Experienced alcoholic. Drink no more than once every 80 hours and you will avoid delirium tremens. You will avoid most of the deleterious effects. That's it, that's the only rule. But once you are an alcoholic you will find creative ways to violate that.

The world is still out there, but for a moment it doesn't have you by the throat. Covers up the real problem.

Thankfully I am not a serious enough alcoholic to have withdrawals. Sometimes I do drink enough to black out and not remember what I did. I don't remember anything I did yesterday after I got home.

Why don't you just stop drinking. Why don't you get yourself locked up until the initial withdrawal hell is over. Why are you gae?

Do you have days off not drinking? Start keeping a diary of your consumption. If you can do two days sober, try making three or four. If you can't go a day without a drink it probably is your Drs and AA and other support groups. Being tea total might not be for everyone though so some say you can learn moderation. Good luck with it, sorry about what happened.

Yeah I sometimes go a day or two without. Last year I went like 9 months without until I learned my mom's cancer isn't going to get better, then I jumped back in to drinking and drugs. Not hard drugs, weed and mushrooms

Yes it's a bind isn't it because one leads to the other as far as booze and drugs go. Count those sober days in between on a calendar and try to increase them.

Also don't feel guilty, we all have a blow out from time to time, the more bad you let yourself feel about it the harder it gets, you're great so stick with it.

I emailed the sheriff's office and apologized for wasting police resources and to thank them for driving me home, and that I'm taking this as a lesson. I really am. I didn't get in trouble or anything but normal well adjusted people who aren't addicted don't get picked up by the police for being drunk in public.

I very rarely drink with friends or family , but drinking by myself is something incomprehensible to me.
