The communion is something that is done in remembrance of our Lord Jesus and his suffering on the cross. It is about charity and sharing food with our Christian brothers and sisters as we work to spread the message of the gospel to the world.
The bread represents Jesus body, the mana from heaven, also known as the Word. It is the law, prophesy, and scriptures. When Israel was being fed mana in the desert, if they ate too much they would get sick and die.
The wine represents Jesus' suffering and blood that was poured out for man's sin. It's the baptismal waters that represents the Holy Spirit being poured out to wash man's sin away. The water, blood and the Holy Spirit agree in one.
That is why the bible says if you take the communion without searching your heart first you can get sick or even die. Because if you read too much of the bible you can start to hate God or feel guilty for sins. Such as the people killing themself after going to Jesus camp or something. You can't take communion properly without the wine and understanding the significance of the wine being taken with the bread. The wine is the grace and love of God being poured out for your sins. It is the thing that provides us with salvation from the laws through the law of grace.
