The book its based on had much more theatrics, Troy seemed like a realistic retelling. Homer's Odyssey would probably do better as a Marvel movie.

That's why I suggested it I suppose, it has those sort of themes and larger than life characters. If you liked the Odyssey you should check out The Anabasis by Xenophon. It''s historical but it is good stuff. 10,000 Greek mercenaries travel across the sea to invade Persia at the behest of Cyrus, who wishes to claim the throne over his brother. Cyrus is killed in the battle, the generals and leaders of the 10,000 are put to death and they make the journey home over years being harassed by enemy armies, starving, freezing in the winter with no winter clothes. It's good stuff.
