Listen from a big time American, I personally have never really liked religion, I was around a lot of orthodoxy when I was young and it was way too stuffy, uptight and boring I didn’t like it.

It was just me and liberalism from an early age

when i was a kid.
i hated church.
i could tell when people were faking pleasantries.
there are good and bad people at church.
stopped going as soon as i was allowed to.
im the only agnostic in my family with 4 siblings & 8 aunts and uncles and even all my cousins are religious.
there are good things taught in the bible, but it's not real and i can tell good from bad without it.

Personally, I am a nihilistic theist. I don't think we know what created the universe but I think it is an intelligent power that may as well be close to a god but isn't necessarily divine. I don't think we know it's motives. I don't think it cares much about humanity, if it is even aware of our existence. It may not be completely omnipotent, it may not be omniscient. We could be like a bug in a computer program or an emergent feature if you will. I don't think that humans are central to the universe, I don't think our measurements of time have any meaning to anyone beyond the rock we live on, let alone the creator of a universe so vast. That's like giving meaning to a speck of sand in relation to a cows ass on a ranch. When you get into the significance of dates to organized religion under that lens you understand just how ridiculous that line of thinking is in such a vast universe.
>They relate to astral phenomenon though!
In the context of our planet to the sun. Which is a star. One of literally innumerable stars. Why does ours matter?

If we are central to the universe, why create the rest of it? What is the point of creating a massive and unending universe that is so large the central subject of it is incapable of ever reaching those places? We aren't going to travel 10 trillion light years away. It isn't going to happen. We aren't built for that. So it would be pointless to create all this.

Perhaps a sophisticated enough AI could though. We could live on in the form of our creation. The final machine, the testament to our ingenuity and ability as a species. Even if we are extinct, if an intelligence we created contacted another intelligence somewhere in the universe the first question exchange would likely be "where did you come from, or who created you?" Therein our stories could be told.

The big thing is: we don't know.

While I always take things like scripture and prophets as man made works, believing in something after death will make you happier and more connected. I haven't been practicing but I am a non practicing mormon and still believe in things like Joseph Smith being a prophet even if I don't agree with everything that is said about him etc.

Joseph Smith created the LDS and that in itself is exampliary of his prophetic nature. Picking away at religions because you think everyone in them is lying will only make you cynical.

Because all of the followers are faggots. I hate churches who have pride flags, because in their own religious book it says faggotry is bad but they don't follow it. Then another group i hate are the "we don't judge" types fuck them worthless cunts. Religion is too fucking liberal and anti war. I would like to create a Religion which is anti liberal and pro war to fuel my empire.

Do atheists really think the universe created itself? How do you delude yourself into believing that?
