Oh and also unironically taking religion too seriously killed the innovation coming out of the Ottoman Empire and started that slow descent into the inbred backwards hell on earth that is the modern middle east. I don't think they would have been able to colonize the world like western European nations but if the Ottomans had been more secular they'd have probably become the new Rome.
