Do you know what the word "degenerate" means? Have you actually thought about it? It's not just an arbitrary buzzword. It means that which *degenerates* society. Japan hit on a solution thousands of years ago: they don't really care if dudes like to bang other dudes or women like to lick carpet. They're perfectly fine to let them do their weird shit behind closed doors. The KEY is that people still put the weirdness aside and do their duties to their society and their families when it counts. Gay is a hobby, not a lifestyle, in Japan. And that's worked out just fine for millennia. Gays aren't "degenerate" in Japan because they aren't degenerating anything, it's already a stable, balanced country that's by and large wholesome. The oldest novel in the entire world, any country, comes from Japan- it's about a prince who lays dozens of court women, including cute traps dressed as women, and ultimately comes to raise the perfect daughter-wife, who is the female author's own self-insert. They had this shit figured out.

The EXCEPTION is the attempt to force import western attitudes on "pride" and "ESG"/blackrock and other such nonsense. Like always, the threat comes from the bignose tengu. That is an actual danger. But Japan is far more resilient against it than places like the US/Europe because vastly more cultural emphasis is placed on tradition and family and duty and less on assailing racial guilt and an overgrown sense of pathological empathy.
