just try not to be complacent
try to appreciate what you have
control your environment as much as you can, make it so it works for you & not against you. it should be extremely easy to start doing something you WANT to do on a whim, instead of the path of least resistance being jerkign off and playing factorio

I've been doing a lot of jerking off and playing video games. This certainly doesn't help. Apathy sucks.

that's exactly why you have to set up your environment to work for you and not against you, that's what i'm saying
i know how it be with apathy, but alot of the time you mysteriously get more motivated/engaged once you actually start doing something
all you have to do is keep a really clean room & have a station set up for whatever you want to do
you should be able to do good things on a whim
does any of this make sense

Not him but it doesn't always work like that. I think you'd need to get rid of the sources. Like if you have a gaming PC you need to sell it so you cant waste time gaming anymore.

maybe, but i can think of scenarios where that wouldn't work either
like if you live in a hoarder house or ghetto with no room to do anything interesting, you'll just pick some other distraction than gaming, possibly drugs or some shit

the reason gaming is bad is the opportunity cost, the fact that you're gaming INSTEAD of doing something good.
the end goal is to reduce friction between you and the things you want to be doing, so that it takes as little willpower as possible

The issue isn't my games. If I sell my PC, I'd just sit around on my phone, doing nothing but working and the couple things I find interesting. It's a me issue. I just have to figure out how to be motivated enough.

Maybe it's your environment. When I lived in the suburbs with my parents I was pretty depressed and just gamed all day. When I moved to the city and had my own apartment I actively went out and met ppl and did shit. I feel like being in a city and surrounded by social opportunities is a massive help. Being isoalted in the suburbs sucks. Even when you have a car it sucks.

in the same situation as OP, same age and also living in the middle of nowhere with parents. Iโ€™d love to just pick up and go, even have the money saved for it. My problem is my parents donโ€™t want me leaving to the point Iโ€™d essentially be burning my last bridge. Shit sucks man, sometimes I wish I was a retarded redneck so I could fit in

if you think you could have a happier life moving away from your dead-end town, even if it's "burning your last bridge" you should do it
if your parents actually love you, they'll come around eventually, especially if you actually do build a life you're proud/happy about

you are better off than 5 billion other people. Appreciate what you have. More money and more shit you buy will not make you happier. Appreciate that beer, the food, that you have a bed to sleep in and computer for shit posting.
