In the in between since my last existence on Earth, I was paid to keep souls calm as they entered a woman's womb. I forget when after conception, but it came to be that one could strangle the soul in the womb up to 8 and a half months into term, and it would 'pop' due to suffocation or something. Then the body could be taken over by the strangler-- getting delivered 2 weeks later.

i was just joking, but sometimes i really wish i had been born american, because I dislike brazil, I don’t plan to immigrate anywhere, even though I could easily get EU citizenship, I just really don’t have any hope for this country
I live in the countryside of the richest state in brazil. life is calm here, and I don’t have much to complain about when it comes to things like crime. but at the same time, i'm shocked by how bad things are in most places, and no one does anything. nothing changes, and nothing will change.
our country is a complete disaster. the government taxes everything and doesn’t improve anything, and most of our people are idiots who keep voting for the same awful politicians for their own benefit. they’re selfish people who don’t care about anything serious, only about meaningless, shallow things. even the ones who try to “get involved” in politics in a more serious way only focus on disconnected topics that make no sense in a third world country.
I know that in usa, most people also don’t care much about deeper issues, but your quality of life is on a whole different level, so it’s more understandable. the poorest neighborhoods in america. are probably better than any favela in rio de janeiro. people here think literally every american is rich, and compared to brazil, that’s honestly true most of the time, lol
I don’t think the people here will ever change, no matter how much time passes. brazil has always been treated as a dirty investment from the very beginning. rhere were attempts to create a real brazilian culture and identity, and that worked to some extent in areas like music. but in more important areas like education, it failed. It’s sad, because I feel like in every situation, you can analyze what a certain society would do, there are japanese values, arab values, german values, but what are brazilian values? they don’t exist. they simply don’t.

a lot of things here are ironic. we’re the most catholic country in the world, yet we’re also known for our crime rates, and even the criminals here claim to be catholic for some reason. we’re known for our hospitality, yet people seem to get into fights over the smallest things to an absurd degree. It’s all a bunch of contradictions that don’t make sense.
i’m always losing hope in this country. everything just seems to get worse. It’s sad, because my ancestors gave their lives for this country, but it feels like all that effort was in vain in the end.
i feel like if I had been born in the US or any other first world country I wouldn’t be so pessimistic about life, and i wouldn't have the fear of checking my phone at public places in big cities

kek don't worry in a decade or two america will be indistinguishable from brazil. already I go to the grocery store or doctor's office and it's like I'm in a foreign country. you faggots just couldn't be satisfied with shitting up your part of the world, and just had to spread your misery to the rest of us.

is that true?
mexico city looks interesting, i know it has a huge population
i never hear much about it, or whether it's good or bad there

i see, thank you
i've talked to many other brazillians around my age, and they seem to share the same sort of pessimism & disillusionment, even the wealthier ones with large families & good positions in life
they tend to have a better knowledge of culture and other countries than almost anyone else, and have some interesting ideas. it's nice talking to them about that stuff sometimes
i think russians are similar, the pessimism & things they write about
idk

That's funny. Middle class college kids here never stop complaining about how awful this country is. I'd trade you for one of them in a heartbeat.

It's hard to value your homeland when everything seems so bad and the people don't want to do anything about it. I think that's the main reason I love studying the culture and society of other countries and talking about it with foreigners. it helps me forget, at least a little, about the disastrous situation here
most people cope by focusing only on shallow things like soccer, random celebrities, parties, etc. basically, bread and circuses
>>22916589
living in a small town is strange, it's peaceful, but at the same time you feel distant from the rest of the country. i feel like most of the world is like that lol
>>22916594
haha thank you man
most of these kids only focus on the most shallow things possible. they lie or exaggerate a lot to make america seem like a third world country while at the same time their house is full of stuff that costs at least 5 monthly minimum wages in brazil (a playstation 5 for example, no joke)
i've seen people say that certain american politicians are dictators, but I've also seen those same people say that our government was right to ban twitter last year. (It's a shithole website, but it should never be banned especially not for the stupid reasons they gave) It drives me insane
